Is China on the verge of a crash?

Not new (June 2009), but amusing (No earthquake, just sloppy work):

Their economy is like their buildings: without fundation.

But I don't believe for one second the given explanation. No building of this size should lose balance no matter what you dig or pile up around it. The pictures show how crappy the fundations were.
The pillars are thin like eating sticks, not even fully filled with concrete and there is no basement at all. The building was litteraly put on mud.
Of course if you don't push it too much it won't fall.

Awsome pictures.
With building engineers like these you don't need Osama Bin Laden. S2

Actually, that was supposed to be a controlled demolition, of two builldings. One fell as it should, and the other one, shown here, simply fell over. I think this is the same situation. Just poor demolition.

I take that back. Here is
. But look at the splitting concrete. Do you see any rebar there? If you say no, YOU WIN!!

Check out the solid foundation footings here. Aren't you really impressed?

If you take this great construction technique, And the proficiency in demolishing older buildings, as shown above, are you concerned about Chinese supremacy? Wink1

How odd, the building did not break up when it hit. It must be tied together pretty well, even though the foundation was faulty.
Jefferson: I place economy among the first and important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.

I suspect _lots_ of steel reinforcement inside. Notice that the building bent and still did not crack.

"I've fallen and I can't get up!"
I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Knowing that one of them has fallen over, would you be inclined to live in one of the other ones? Wink1

I know this may not be totally correct, but I would be skeptical of just about anything they build. It would have to be put through rigorous inspections first.

Now, let's apply this to their navy, air force, you name it. Even their space program. Shock

My point is that if some think we have problems, just think of what you could expect from a system such as theirs.

I don't think I would want to be living in any of their high risers. And I damned sure would not live directly down stream from the Three Gorges Dam either. Wink1
