How many KKK meetings have you attended,

or hosted, Fredledingue?

You sound very authoritative about this.
I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Not to mention the fact that the KKK was an arm of the Democrats and until recently they had a Klan recruiter amongst them.

You should have seen the look on this black woman's face when I told her the Dems had a Klansman in the Senate. She was shocked. Informed voter there. Shock

I seem to recall that Strom Thurman was also a long time KKK member and fought openly against blacks through most of his career, even though he father a mixed race child out of wedlock.

No one escapes the stones of history as there are stories from both sides of the fence.

Also - can we say George Wallace? The Dixiecrat racist governor from Alabama - ahh... the checkered past we dems have in our big tent!

Everyone forgets that it was the modern Democratic party that fought against the Civil Rights movement.

Not me. It was Republicans that passed the '64 Civil Rights Act. Dems filibustered. It was Nixon who started Afirmative Action.

He started the EPA, Affirmative action and ended the Vietnam war.

He was really a democrat!! no wonder he was such a scoundrel.
"And down through the centuries the robes have never failed to keep the public at a respectful distance, inspire a decent awe for the professions, and impart an air of solemnity and mystery that has been as good as money in the bank. The four faculties of theology, philosophy, medicine, and law have been the perennial seedbeds, not only of professional wisdom, but of the quackery and venality so generously exposed to public view by Plato, Rabelais, Molière, Swift, Gibbon, A. E. Housman, H. L. Mencken, and others. What took place in the Greco-Roman as in the Christian world was that fatal shift from leadership to management that marks the decline and fall of civilizations." - taken from a speech by Hugh Nibley

No... it was not the Democratic party as a whole that opposed it like you guys have been brain washed to think. It was a bunch of racist Congressmen from the southern states that happened to include a fair amount of Democrats who opposed it. It was that big Dem Kennedy who proposed the bill and that other Dem Johnson who pushed it to be passed. Most of the Dems in Congress at the time supported the bill. And many of the Democrats that were against it ended up switching parties.

It is true the democrats used to be the southern racist, anti-black party. That was quite a while ago and of interest to historians only. Times change.
