Junk Science Madness!

See artificial fertilizers and pesticides would indeed mean a larger higher quality harvest, but it would be larger than her family could harvest. She could hire help but then she'd have to pay them including benefits. Between the price of the fertilizer and pesticides plus additional labor it would be 6's. So instead she sells organic foods for ridiculous prices because the harvest is of manageable size for her family and the idiots in Germany are willing to pay 2-3 times as much for Bio products. The worst part there is no legal definition of Bio. It is on the honor code. So in a country that regulates everything they don't regulate the one term that protects their agriculture and allows them to still be profitable and instead allow them to abuse it and screw the consumer.

That can, and Will, be rectified by the Krauts, who just LOVE rules.

I"m not sure they will because they are doing everything they can to protect their agriculture, by banning GM foods for example. There was recently a debate and there were experts going so far as to say that simple selective breeding went too far. We're not even talking about the synthetic molecular manipulation just Mendel level style breeding. And why because if poor countries took advantage of their land resources, they could create cheap produce and the German/french farmer would be screwed.

On the other hand you guys might have heard about the EU agreement with the US on Wine. Wine has a strict code for its manufacture in the EU. But the largest market is the US. So the EU agreed that the designer wines of the US with their additives could be sold here without any additional labeling and in return no embargo on the EU wine. Turns out in taste tests with non experts the US stuff tastes way better. Some experts can pick out the expensive stuff but even most of them are fooled.

Not me personally, I don't buy Bio stuff and don't believe in "you are what you eat". Our bodies are able to handle a huge variety of food, it doesn't have to be perfect. As you perfectly right remarked, Bio is mostly false labelling, and a fraud by private businesses covered by their gofers in the governments, typical capitalism.
However, you might have followed the story that a new pesticide by Bayer killed off much of Germany's bee stocks. Also rapidly disappearing are butterflies, like bees all over the world. Bees and butterflies are in a key position in nature, fertilising a whole range of plants. Their disappearance will have dire consequences, the smallest of which is that the variety of our food will be reduced by a good 80%.
The long term sideffects of those artifical chemics are not known, and never beneficial.

More from Tony Heller, on how NOAA, along with its fellow weather/climate Whores at the NYTimes, is lying to the public about weather/climate.  NOAA was founded in 1970, and it is well past time it was disbanded and placed under its former managers.

When is Trump going to finally get around to cleaning house?  Gah
