I recruited candidates for this Military College. Despite only having less than a thousand students, it has produced more Rhodes Scholars than any other Canadian university.

The military is collectivist by nature, in the extreme: the individual follows without question the directives of the group and their leaders.
The collective is invariably of higher value than the individual - absolutely.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

You miss the importance of military discipline,w/o it we all would lose our personal freedom. That is the rare case where individualists like John support sacrificing our personal freedom to preserve it for others.
