Maduro Kicks CNN out of Venezuela for Report on School Food Shortages

Quote:President Nicolás Maduro has expelled CNN after accusing the international news outlet of “manipulating” information about Venezuela.

Maduro said Sunday he wants CNN “outside” Venezuela after he claimed the news channel manipulated information about a student’s complaint regarding the lack of food at school.

“Some media like CNN tried to manipulate information,” he said. “They can not manipulate information like that, it’s our affair, of Venezuelans. CNN does not need to put its nose in Venezuela … I want CNN well away from here.”

Last week, a student demanded on national television that the president improve the conditions of his school, asking for security, infrastructure and food so his classmates wouldn’t faint from hunger anymore.

CNN en Español visited the high school and talked with the staff about the student, and whether Maduro had made any improvements since that incident only to discover he had not.

Maduro said the young woman “uncovered a situation that had to be spoken about.”

And even Maduro, like the genius he is, forgot to take full advantage of the situation, by leaving out the magic phrase "Fake News". S13

In spite of what Socialism, and its many champions, always manage to do to its victims, most of them never seem to learn from the experience.

Hugo Chavez Still Venezuela’s Most Popular President: Poll

Quote:Venezuela's former socialist President Hugo Chavez remains the most popular president in the country’s history, according to a recent poll by the independent think tank Hinterlaces.

According to the poll, carried out between February 13 and 23, 79 percent of the people surveyed believed that Chavez was the country’s most beloved president, while former Democratic Action leader Carlos Andres Perez ranked second with only 13 percent.

Chavez is also perceived as being Venezuela’s most democratic president, with 51 percent of the vote, and the country's most efficient president, with 57 percent of the vote.

Sixty-one percent of respondents also think he was “most concerned” with the plight of the country’s poor while 83 percent say he was the president who showed "the most leadership” nationally.

Isn't this the expected mind set? Far Left regimes always tell their prey that "good times are right round the corner" In this paradigm, the only reason for the good times not to appear is because someone interceded and ruined the projected path.

... and speaking of "right around the corner" ...

There's an interesting twist to the lefty "good times are right around the corner" thinking in this country.  Right now, they are fully vested in good times NOT being right around the corner.  If we manage to hit 3% growth this year for example, it's going to be a full on disaster for the left.  They are doing their absolute best to ensure that nothing good is right around the corner.  But I think that's a tall order ... there are too many long suppressed animal spirits that long to roar.   Our economy been so stymied for so long, that the Krugmans of the world have declared a "new normal".  For them, a paradigm shift at this particular moment in history equals complete catastrophe.

See Mao.

Yak,
It's even surprising that they still have $10B in cash. As long as they have a few billion left, they won't worry. They will start to worry when it reaches zero. They after moving all the gold to Swtzerland they will move themselves there.
IMO they have a plan B for evacuation when the coffers will be empty.

Now oil prices are rising again ($55 a barrel vs $30 one year ago) and this is why the regime survives.

Everyone speaks of how the Left has lost it and is on a downward spiral. However - it is the strategy of the Dems to lie and conceal truth at all cost. I speak about the Dems: "wink and nod" being the equivalent of the Islam concept of taqiyya, tawriya, kitman and muruna. In other words; THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS. No Democrat has to accept their own leaders saying what they think needs to be said, because they know they don't mean it. The example will always be their ruination of the US economy in 2007 and their defamation of war fighting. Faux News did not start with the anti-Trump movement. They will cause problems and project it onto their opposition.

The poor showing of the Dems will not shut them up or stop their sabotage. I expect them to get worse.

'Worse' is a relative term.  If they become more shrill, more desperate, more blatant with their lies ... I guess that's 'worse' ... but if they continue to lose political traction as a result? ... for the rest of us, that's a win.  It's hard to imagine things going positively for them with their "America Last" counter strategy ... nobody likes a sore loser.

To bring it full circle to Venezuela it serves to illustrate that our domestic leftists have a long, long way to go when it comes to completely destroying the nation.  Fortunately, I don't think Americans have the same patience to starve as their Venezuelan counter parts.  It's becoming harder to fathom how the Venezuelan people can continue to tolerate it.  I realize they have the military's boot on their throat, but there is a point at which they'll have nothing (and I mean NOTHING) left to lose.  It's hard to believe that point isn't rapidly approaching.  No food, no medicine, no commerce, no electricity, extreme hyperinflation ... a military that operates an open kleptocracy ... and a political class that continues live in the stolen splendor that socialist are supposed to abhor.  And now down to their last $10 Billion.  Hard to imagine what keeps the whole thing intact ... it's almost like Francisco Franco's death vigil.  Hard to imagine how much longer it can go on.  Given their burn rate, $10 Billion would probably bound it to no longer than another year and a half.

The end story is the prosecution of "The Big Lie." If the Left lies often enough and loudly enough, then the lies can gain traction and an alternate universe is created. Since this alternate universe is the only place where the Dems can prosper, for sure they will try to give it life.

Yeah, this is the ONLY way Socialism can go, because it is going to fail, period. So there has to be ongoing scapegoats who the benevolent leadership can pin the blame to. With Hitler it was the Jews. With Stalin it was the Kulaks and middle class. With Maduro the scapegoat of the moment is the evil bakers, who are wasting state owned flower, by exercising choice.

I wonder when Maduro is going to start a war with Colombia? Perhaps after he goes after the Venezuelan citizenry first? He's got to do something to focus attention from the failed socialist state. And if he manages to conquer Colombia, there are lots of goodies to steal and hand out to the masses.

Ahh, the joys of socialism. Gah

They aren't 'wasting' anything John ... you can't waste something that you don't have.  In a few cases they were making confections ... which they're allowed to do up to 10% I think ... except when the government needs a scape goat.  Note how most bakeries 'pass' their inspections ... by simply opening their empty pantries.  There's a flour shortage because the government can't import enough flour.  Obviously they can't run with that story ... so they jail some bakers instead and blame capitalist pigs.

I wouldn't be surprised if some Venezuelans were slow-walking their efforts. Without the Free-Market to reward them, the State must use the stick to prod effort. Vinegar instead of honey - nothing surprising here.

Ami Horowitz, does a great job of showing just how uninformed and gullible Americans are about Socialism. And he does the unpardonable by using Venezuela as a perfect example as to why it Always fails, everywhere it is tried.

I wonder if any of these leftist morons will bother watching the video?

As the opposition becomes louder, the entrenched Socialist government keeps making plans for an armed conflict that is one-sided with the arms.

Quote:VENEZUELA'S MADURO SEEKS TO EXPAND ARMED CIVILIAN MILITIAS

The Maduro government has vowed to hold a counter mass gathering Wednesday in defense of the socialist movement started by Chavez.

Chavez created the civilian militias with the goal of training 1 million Venezuelans to assist the armed forces in the defense of his revolution from external and domestic attacks. Maduro told the militia Monday that vision remains relevant as Venezuela continues to face "imperialist aggression."

"A gun for every militiaman!" he cried.

Maduro's government claims foreign-backed opposition leaders are fomenting violence in an attempt to remove him from power. The opposition denies that assertion, saying it is Maduro himself who is responsible for Venezuela's woes, including triple-digit inflation, rising crime and food shortages.

Shooting protesters hasn't occurred yet, but its only its only a matter of time. And if the militia increases five-fold, and they are armed, the streets will be running with blood. Unless one side gives up, there is always the predicted ending. S24

For every tragic event taking place, there is one positive thing to take away from it. Collectivism does Not Work, and never has. Latin America has this right in front of them, for all to see. For every Utopianist, who refuses to see the logic in this lesson, there are many more who do. Shock

For the same reason that Thomas Jefferson once stated that "The tree of liberty must be refreshed, from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants", the same thing holds true here. Current events, such as this, always seem to carry more weight than past ones. Its a shame, but a fact, that so many are unable to see beyond their Johnsons, but there you have it. Gah

Sure but who is going to feed the vigilantes??  The place is rapidly starting to look like Africa or North Korea.  Probably more like Africa as there are few photos of starving North Koreans.

Yeah, and the Maximum Leader said this: "President Nicolas Maduro stated recently that 'the ‘Maduro diet’ makes you hard'."
Too bad he isn't having to undergo the same thing as his citizenry. He may be able to lose some of his midriff dimensions
