Chavez Tightening Grip On Venezuela Further
Excellent article from PJMedia about why we Americans should not dismiss what is happening in Venezuela, and cannot happen here.

Why Couldn't What Happened In Venezuela Happen Here?

Everywhere socialism is tried, it fails. The higher the Collectivist content, the quicker it falls apart. Such things as Euro-Socialism are a form of wishy-Washy bed wetting socialism, and it too is dying slowly. But make no mistake, Collectivism always promises heaven on earth, and in reality substitutes the "heaven" part to "Hell on earth".

This guy does a great job of making a video showing how his mother country has been stabbed in the back and raped as a result.

It looks like Maduro may be expecting the worst soon. Here is what he is telling everyone he will be doing should he have to fight a coupe.

Venezuelan president warns rivals: 'Did you see what happened in Turkey?': Nicolás Maduro has said Erdoğan’s crackdown after the failed Turkish coup is child’s play compared to how he would handle a similar attempt

Quote:Nicolás Maduro has said the purge Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has meted out on rivals after a failed coup would look like child’s play compared with the action he would take if Venezuela’s opposition tried something similar.

“Did you see what happened in Turkey?” said Maduro, in a televised public event on Thursday evening. “Erdoğan will seem like a nursing baby compared to what the Bolivarian revolution will do if the right wing steps over the line with a coup.”

In other words, create your own fake coupe and then you have the excuse to suspend civil rights, and jail opponents. Works every time. Ain't Socialism just wonderful? S22

The opposition just hqs to wait for the next elections and win by a landslide while Maduro just has to cancel the next elections to stay in power. But he's visibly afraid of a popular uprising.

Sooner or later he is going to have to rely on the military to do his dirtywork. Question is,...will they? They have been awfully quiet during all this. I wonder how long they will continue to sit back and let things slide?

Fred, the correct word is "restore". As in "replace", "resort", "return", etc. S22

Venezuela needs to import oil, ...but can't because they have no money to pay upfront

reuters Wrote:Risk-averse suppliers are refusing to discharge cargoes to cash-strapped PDVSA without being paid first, unusual in an industry in which buyers normally have 30 to 60 days to pay after delivery. Others have stopped dealing with PDVSA entirely as it resorts to bartering its own oil in swap deals, according to traders and a company source who was not authorized to speak publicly.

Despite having the world's largest crude reserves, Venezuela's purchases grew further in 2015 as a decline in crude production forced the company to carry out regular imports of lighter crudes and naphtha to dilute its extra heavy oil into exportable grades.

So they need to import in order to export and also for their domestic consumption...
I knew that Iran had to import gasoline but no OPEC country has ever felt as low as becoming oil import dependent!

Hey, its crazy, isn't it? There's only one thing causing all this. The belief in a utopian Collectivist State. It never works, and yet there are so many worshipers who fail, or refuse, to learn by other's mistakes. And the majority of millennials here in the US seem to think Socialism it just great. Go figure.

Comedian Joanna Hausmann, goes ballistic over her parent countries plunge into the sewer.

Quote:“Being a Venezuelan living abroad is kind of like being someone who does CrossFit, the moment someone brings up the topic we cannot shut up about it,” Hausmann says in the video. “Because to delve into Venezuela is like unpacking a little Russian doll of horrors.”

The Venezuelan comedian then breaks down how her country went from oil powerhouse to a place where citizens are forced to wait in 8-hour lines to buy basic food and hygiene products.

“Let’s start with how the place I love got f**ked,” Hausmann says before discussing former president Hugo Chávez and his “minion successor” Nicolás Maduro’s socialist revolution.

But who will the massive mobs respond favorably to--the people who promise them sound economic policies, or the fools who just offer them more of the same socialistic heaven-on-earth-at-the-expense-of-the-rich idiocy? People who keep choosing socialism deserve to starve! They are doing it to themselves, to their own families, and to their neighbors by voting for fools who think "disgusting" is good. ("disgusting"=Sin. Sin=violation of the Law (1 John 3:4). The Law="Thou shalt not steal," and "Thou shalt not covet."--Ex. 20:15, 17)

Now that's not true. Corporate socialism is surviving quite nicely in this nation....they get more in welfare than they make in profits.

It is Not "Corporate Socialism".  It is "Corporatism", which is Progressivism, or Fascism; take your pick.  Socialism is a political-economic system in which the State OWNS the means of Production.

What always amazes me most is that the greatest practitioners of Corporatism are business executives who almost always vote Jackass.  Name one who isn't and at least five or more can be found who are.  Yet the left somehow fails to recognize that it is their own party that is guilty of all this.

If corporation executives are guilty of manipulation, it is the politicians, i.e. Government who are the biggest villains there.  Why can't you guys see this?  Are you all that closed minded?

And in the "Say it Isn't So Joe" category, Half of Venezuelan children not getting three square meals

Quote:Half of children in oil-rich Venezuela are receiving a maximum of two meals a day, making it hard for them to attend school, a new survey has found.

The findings by More Consulting, a research firm, found that 50 per cent of parents were only feeding their children one or two meals a day as a result of food shortages caused by an ongoing financial crisis.

Venezuela has some of the world largest oil reserves but has been left reeling by the collapse in world crude prices and decades of economic mismanagement by socialist governments founded by the late charismatic leader Hugo Chazez.

Meanwhile, Kerry meets Venezuela's Maduro amid vote tensions.  I wonder how many meals Venezuela's Maximum Leader has missed?

And here's yet one more "unintended consequence" resulting from Venezuelan Utopianism.

Venezuelan Women Reluctantly Opt For Sterilization Amid Economic Crisis
“I thought I would have up to five kids ... But it would be crazy to fall pregnant now.”

Quote:When they have them, pharmacies sell a pack of three condoms for around 600 bolivars, only 60 U.S. cents at the black market rate but a big expense for those who earn the minimum wage of some 33,000 bolivars per month. On the Caracas re-sale market, those same condoms fetch around 2,000 bolivars.

Venezuela’s elite can afford those prices but the ailing middle class and poor are increasingly stuck.

“I couldn’t find the (contraceptive) injections, the pill, nothing. It’s very expensive on the black market, and now you can’t even find stuff there anymore,” said Yecsenis Ginez, 31, who has one son and decided to get sterilized.

“I thought I would have up to five kids, I had loads of names in mind. But it would be crazy to fall pregnant now.”

Still, some women have had to wait for months to be sterilized because there are limited spots at state-led hospitals and private clinics can charge about 12 times the monthly minimum wage. And some health centers are unable to provide sterilizations at all due to a lack of equipment or specialists.

They're starving to death. I pray for Venezuela. You can be a socialist state and not end up like this, Sweden and the UK did it 40 years.

The difference in Venezuela is Chavez and Maduro have instituted "get even" reactionary ideas much like Detroit did after the civil rights era. Just like contempt for blacks in Mississippi also harmed whites, the same is happening to the poor in Venezuela who have reacted against the middle and wealthy the same way, with contempt.

As opposed to the black leadership in Atlanta, Georgia. Does anyone know why it worked out like this in Atlanta and not in Detroit? Because Atlanta blacks really believed in and followed Christ to a larger extent manifested in Martin Luther King's leadership and Detroit blacks went after "get whitey" Malcolm X views.
