Try reading Dawkins latest books and see if you can say to me with a straight face "Dawkins is not a zealot".
The God Delusion (and others)

!! Dawkins cracks down on the zealots, his approach is informed by science...not faith.

Here he is facing one of them off...

Can you explain to me why Dawkins is such a zealot on "cracking down" on those who believe in God? The man spends extreme amounts of energy at this pastime. Is it just a way to make money selling his books?

And, can you explain to me how you know his opinion is "informed by science"? Is this something that Dawkins said that you believe? Are you a scientist?

We must make our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.

The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.

This year a definition required for the contemporary term, 'Political Correctness'.

The winner wrote:

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
As Gary Lloyd said, "When the government’s boot is on your throat, whether it is a left boot or a right boot is of no consequence."

A nice parody by the winner.

Would that be some poser with an aspiration to appear intelligent and offer old, used up, cliches from the past so as to appear to be a member of the intelligentsia?
Is this a lost on the Quadrangle student of the 21st Century with ideologies and beliefs from the early Twentieth Century?
I have seen the words before and they always precursored the coming of totalitarianism. Benign Totalitarianism but none the less Totalitarianism.
Do not appear to be aggressive it will only make the dog bark. Last said by an individual with teeth marks in his ass.

I might add, that they only state that it is possible for someone else to do this, too.

I wonder if HAZLET, N.J., ever tries to take Mother Nature to court when she fails to produce an abundant supply of nuts, after having done so the year before? This leads to the ultimate starvation of thousands of squirrels, who over produce in the good year, only to die back the next.

So which is the cruelest here?

A Taunton father is outraged after his 8-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after drawing a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.

The only person requiring psychological evaluation is the kid's teacher, he/she should be fired.
The true purpose of democracy is not to select the best leaders — a clearly debatable obligation — but to facilitate the prompt and peaceful removal of obviously bad ones.

I could maybe understand it if it was an detailed picture of Jesus that was full of gore to the point where it was like it came out of a horror movie.
But it's not even a good picture of Jesus. it's just a stick figure.

Ann Coulter wrote a great column concerning the derivation of anchor babies - and how no such thing ever existed or was allowed for in Law - except for Justice Brennan sticking a footnote in a 1982 decision that nobody noticed until it was too late.
Coulter Wrote:...Inasmuch as America was not the massive welfare state operating as a magnet for malingerers, frauds and cheats that it is today, it's amazing the drafters even considered the amendment's effect on the children of aliens.

But they did.

The very author of the citizenship clause, Sen. Jacob Howard of Michigan, expressly said: "This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers."

In the 1884 case Elk v. Wilkins, the Supreme Court ruled that the 14th Amendment did not even confer citizenship on Indians -- because they were subject to tribal jurisdiction, not U.S. jurisdiction.

For a hundred years, that was how it stood, with only one case adding the caveat that children born to legal permanent residents of the U.S., gainfully employed, and who were not employed by a foreign government would also be deemed citizens under the 14th Amendment. (United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 1898.)

And then, out of the blue in 1982, Justice Brennan slipped a footnote into his 5-4 opinion in Plyler v. Doe, asserting that "no plausible distinction with respect to Fourteenth Amendment 'jurisdiction' can be drawn between resident aliens whose entry into the United States was lawful, and resident aliens whose entry was unlawful." (Other than the part about one being lawful and the other not.)

Brennan's authority for this lunatic statement was that it appeared in a 1912 book written by Clement L. Bouve. (Yes, the Clement L. Bouve -- the one you've heard so much about over the years.) Bouve was not a senator, not an elected official, certainly not a judge -- just some guy who wrote a book.

So on one hand we have the history, the objective, the author's intent and 100 years of history of the 14th Amendment, which says that the 14th Amendment does not confer citizenship on children born to illegal immigrants.

On the other hand, we have a random outburst by some guy named Clement -- who, I'm guessing, was too cheap to hire an American housekeeper.
Once again, Coulter says something very intelligent and points out the ludicrous reality that is so easily proved wrong. Should we hold our breath until the MSM picks up on this?

More importantly, should we hold our breaths until the courts pick up on this?

Occasionally they used to consider the writings of the original framers. But in this case they did not, perhaps since it was more recent.

However, it does not matter. The judges in this country, even of conservative persuasion, feel that they have license to make any decision they want in certain areas. Their decisions can only be corrected on appeal, so that the SCOTUS has complete liberty of invention.

Only rarely are judges impeached, so this mechanism is disfunctional. Probably more of them should be elected.

In a note of sanity, John Boehner went on the record today, stating that there should be a fix to the anchor baby problem - even if the Constitution needs to be strengthened to do so.
