It is obvious. He is aware that he will get the death sentence for any of those operations that he lead. Then it is better to talk and show to the Arab world what a true hero he was to them. He might have exaggerated his role in some of the actions but for sure he really is the main culprit of 9/11 and many other terrorist acts.
