World of 2007 --- the year of War?
#1
Three unrelated articles, all from good sources & interesting:

Amir Taheri: 2007: War Clouds Thicken on the Horizon

RCP, Jack Kelly: The Looming Regional Mideast War

Dennis Prager: The world in 2007

ADD: And the same claim from Moscow, but totally different story:

Moscow Times: (2006) One Last Year of Peace, Perhaps

Well, the dam had to break some time. The peace of 1980-2000 mostly consisted of ignoring developing problems. Now they are all coming headlong. That's the way history works, unfortunately.

Anyway, hopefully I can make it through all this shit without being drafted :?

You mean 1991-2001.

Good chances you will be fine. You will either perish in a nuclear strike on your town, or volunteer to protect it against the mexican bandits. No draft.

Wrong dating, recheck.
The war in Afghanistan -- the last Cold War conflict -- continued for several more years. So did the Iran-Iraq war, and so did the proxy Somali-Ethiopia war. And a few more.

Logically, the peace period should start either from 1989 (Eastern Europe revolutions) or 1991 (Breakup of the Soviet Union).

Mv is correct. While the current trouble began in 1979, with the Iranian hostage crisis, the real peace dividend began in 1991, and officially ended on 9/11. That was almost exactly one decade, which is about all one can logically expect. We are now back to a confrontational situation, and G-d knows when we will have another peace dividend.

Every year has lots of famines, wars, disasters, conflicts, etc. Jesus easily predicted, "There shall be wars, and rumors of wars, until I return." You guys keep in touch with all kinds of international media now, so that wars in Darfur, Sudan and Ethopia are on your radar. How much attention did most of us pay to the resistance movements in Central America or Chiapas in the 1980's? I still have a 1985 photo where I'm protesting in front of the federal building with a mammoth sign that says, "Your tax dollars pay for rape, torture and murder in Central America." :o
I'm often wrong. But I'm not always wrong!

Can you think of any other reason to get rid of the Evil Tax system? Wink1

No John our tax money should go to defend an ideology that leads to more rapes, more torture, more murder, move poverty because the ideology has good intentions. So pick the greater evil over the lesser evil. If we could have used some fringe evil group to undermine Hitler, would you oppose that Fit, even if the group had killed a few hundred? Yes because making sure we don't support the murderers of hundreds is better than preventing the murder of millions. I hope the islamo nazis come after your kind first. [-o< Then we'll have a peace treaty.

Those who write scriptures.
We now await the Horsemen.
War is the Human Condition. Some in large form some in small. Gang rivalry is warfare and they kill each other and we celebrate because it means one less gangster.
Same for some countries. They engage in fights they can't win and they die in droves and it is, all in all, a small war.
The big ones garner attention as they involve the big boys so to speak. The ones that can really cause you harm.
I do not subscribe to the impending end of the world. It will end when it ends.
I have not seen any ideology that subscribes to rapes and murders from the USA. If you wish to say that some political motivations have led to a Laissez Faire attude toward that occurence I will agree. That does not mean we endorse it or subscribe to it.
You have to pick your fights carefully and you must also consider is it worth it. In some cases it is not. If the majority of the population is willing to go along with it then so be it.
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government
