New York Times Becomes Cowboy, Unilateral, Neo Con

Palladin Wrote:John,

Probably, but anyone in the know already understands there will br NO military solution in NK short of an atomic bombing and that most unlikely.

North Korea is invulnerable to conventional assault from SK. Seoul would be destroyed in 2 days if there was one and SK isn't into that,so if that is the NYT angle, they're just showing more basic dishonesty.

Your analysis is off. SK will not invade period. If they did they would eventually overwhelm the NK forces. SK is better equipped, and trained. NK is lots of noise and little foundation.
However on the reverse. NK could and would be able to reach Seoul, both would suffer heavy damage and loss. They would not stay and would eventually be driven back. The losses to both sides would be high.
The DPRNK is not invulnerable.
There will be no invasion because South Korea does not want what happened in Germany to happen to them. They end up with a unified country and no way to support everyone. Nationalism is contained on the South Korean side. They want a South Korea but not necassarily a unified Korea.
In the three years I was there I learned the language and immersed myself in the culture. My wife was Korean and her dad was a former North Korean soldier. I keep current with the times in South Korea.
There is no push to unify. No desire to absorb. There is fear.
Over estimating the DPRNK is a hazard as is underestmating them.
They would pour across but they could not sustain and their Army is not all that well maintained logistical or Maintenance wise.

Eagle,

My analysis is accurate, you confirmed it with the statement,"SK will not invade NK".

Neither will the US Army. That is my analysis. I never spoke about the relative value of the south and north Armies or ours. It's not germane and I have no knowledge to make assertions about them.

NK would try to kill every Seoul resident within 24 hours if they are invaded,it is out of the QUESTION. That's all my analysis is.

their pre positioned artillery tubes pointing at Seoul make war NOT an option to the SK people unless invaded.

Eagle,

OK,they're not,but they are invulnerable to any attack that the USA or SK would attempt knowing the mentality of the people pf SK and the USA in 2006.

It's as likely as you becoming Chesty Puller,it ain't going to happen,so why are we arguing? North Korea doesn't need to concern herself with that issue, neither does Iran.

I wish both were worried.

Actually my point was, they are. That is why they are acting the way they are.
There is internal strife as well as external problems. In part the little man keeps his people focused on big bad America in order to maintian control over his Military (It is tenous) Also in part he realizes it will not take much to make his paper empire crumble.
I know Koreans and I know the North Koreans better than the average person. I was there for the PammunJon Tree Incident. They are cowards except in packs and they will surrender in droves given the opportunity (Just as they did on the closing years of the Korean War.) Remember they are technically still at war with the UN and they realize they are looking at a united front. They (he) are worried, and scared, and they is why they act as they do. Bluster.
