IMHO the cold war ... or at least the chunk of it associated with preventing the Soviets from "overrunning Europe" and bolstering them via the Marshall Plan will go down in history as a collosal waste of money, effort and sacrafice.

Yeah, we start to merge with Europe, where we belong historically.
The pace of this merging will be slow, though, since the major merging will happen with the former USSR republics.
I mean economy, of course.

Green,
Don't be so coy. Economics isn't the only area where the "old Europe" is reconverging. I hear plenty of Anti-American Europeans on other forums gleefully supporting Europe's entry into SCO along with other 'dovish' states ... like Iran. The E.U. is well along with becoming completely Russia dependent on their energy ... and now they appear to be ceding their defense industries as well. Despite the obvious chagrin for the U.S. ... there is the long standing tradition of what happens when France, Germany and Russia get together to play their little periodic reindeer games. It left a lot of dead American soldiers (not to mention millions upon millions of dead Europeans - as I recall mostly dead Russians) in the two little adventures in the last century. If it happens again, you guys are going to have to deal with it on your own. There is absolutely no way in hell that I would allow my children or grand children to fight another European war. Twice in one century is enough for even the stupidest history student to learn a lesson.
Actually, a Russian dominated Europe would probably do a little better job of dealing with the looming Islamic takeover of the region that's being facilitated by declining demographic trends and whacky social policies ... hey, squeeze those lemons into lemonade when you can ... right?

Don't get overly concerned with these folks, they're dying rather rapidly.
Their undertakers are who we will have to contend with.

Hm, did I ever say that Russia is going to dominate in Europe?
Anyway, who is dominating in Europe right now?
Would you be so kind to name this country?

Before we die we will cause you a lot of problems you will deal with for centures.

Green,
Maybe 1 century left to do that, but you people tried hard to cause us problems for the 20th century and your former nation got smaller and changed it's name,as well as slaughtered several millions of your own people and very few of us.
I doubt your next century will show an improvement on that record honestly, you guys are missing a component for success and if it was in your living room you wouldn't recognize it.

Depends on what you call a success.
As for the components their number is so huge, accumulated by different experiences of different nations and you can take any that fits you best.

How many states does the USSR influence today? The answer shows our success.
It was more your failure, but that counts as success for us.

The USSR doesn't exist. Let it be.
How many countries does Russia influence today?
Practically all the former Soviet republics.

Hey if you hadn't noticed we've started bailing out ... after a mere half-century ... most of "old" Europe is a pretty expensive place to hang out ... especially if you are getting little to no ROI.
Russia, Germany and France have a proven track record of trying to 'dominate' one another. At one point or another it's been necessary for some "outside force" to come in and mop up the mess you guys create for yourselves. As far as I'm concerned China can take care of it the next time.

What ... you mean more crap like this sort of thing? ... isn't there enough of that kind of junk to go around for a few millenia already???

What you mean places like Iran, Syria and North Korea ... and weren't you guys one of Saddam's favorite vendors as well?

Well, if I remember the mess you guys created by yourselves was the whole continent when you killed and deportated Indians. Chinese are like rabbits, they are many, but harmless.

According to this data, collected by Russian Ministry for ecological and radiation security in Chelyabinsk region, the radiation level is within norm. The situation is being monitored several years.

Why were not only vendors, we were also his buyers. Iraq had a big debt to USSR and then to Russia. Iran and Syria are in the list of America's enemies, why don't you include Saudi Arabia?

They are doing buisness with the French now ... and if this EADS deal goes through you can probably add them to your customer list as well. Lucky you!!
