The true purpose of democracy is not to select the best leaders — a clearly debatable obligation — but to facilitate the prompt and peaceful removal of obviously bad ones.

In CCP they can afford to get by with inferior quality. Who's going to punish the upper 1%? Quality of export products, now that's a different story. If they don't demand better quailty there, the world will soon find out and stop doing business with them.
Eventually, this will all change because it just cannot go on forever. Sooner or later, they will have to pay. It will be interesting to see this all come falling down on the system. Perhaps I'll live long enough to see it all fall apart. Spiteful

I think it will all fall apart within the next five years, too many countries are rethinking having pharmaceuticals, electronic components and steel made in China. I also wouldn't be surprised if Xi is forced out of government.

In any Master-slave economy, (like China) it is not hard to repair infrastructure. Workers are only a concern if they are taken away from more important work. There seem to be enough engineers rambling around to assign to such tasks. What is different from our needs, is that China doesn't worry about legal roadblocks that make the simplest projects into nightmares.
