Supreme Court blocks subpoena for Trump financial records
Quote:..."Mr. Trump inflated his total assets when it served his purposes and deflated his assets to reduce his real estate taxes."

Since when is this a crime? All my tax preparers often stated that how one prepares one's taxes depends on to what purpose it is to be used. For instance, to prove your ability to secure loans or financial backing, you should focus on disposable income. To avoid taxes, you should minimize it. Both approaches are legal, but the ending numbers will be different, and there is no problem with making multiple approaches.

IOW, you want to look rich to prove your worth, but look poor to minimize your tax exposure.

How can it be legal if the two numbers are different?
Normally both should be equal.
So if legally they can be different, the law is bad.

It's also immoral. Thought I don't consider tax dogging as immoral. But taking a loan on a fake financial basis is.

About Trump
He is the first POTUS in history to have refused to show his tax returns. It's not a legal obligation but if you have nothing to hide you do it volontarily.
Trump is not confortable with this. ...Maybe one would discover more pornstar affairs? Not good for the honour of the First Lady.

There are many tax laws. You can pick and choose which way to approach documenting income. You do know many people use charitable giving to limit their liabilities. You can decide to itemize every little thing, or to accept a generic plug-in value for things. A good accountant can make a big difference and stay within the law.

WmLambert. I understand it's the United State of America overthere, where you live? The only place where you can chose your tax laws.

No. You aren't getting it. The laws allow a person alternative ways to do taxes. For instance, you can itemize deductions, or else take a generic amount. There are many alternative approaches created over the years to best help the economy. Democrats, Independents, and GOP have offered plans for the benefit of their supporters.

Other countries have their own approaches. Does the Exchequer come to your house and count coup?
