Ukraine Action

6 years later: Still shooting at each others.

Of Course!  This is a 100% expected action.  This region has always been staunchly Pro-Russian for decades, and has more ethnic speaking Russians than Ukrainians. This was bound to happen and eventually Russia will gain official control(they already occupy the area).

The main difference between Ukraine and Lithuania or Latvia is that the Ukrainian government wasn't better than the Russian one. While in Lithuania and Latvia, they were much better, period. In other words, people were not happy with the Ukrainian government, neither in the east nor in the west of Ukraine. This allowed Putin to undertake an effective propaganda there.

There is no ethnic difference between Ukrainians and Russians. They are the same ethnicity. Talking of Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking is irrelevant because the two languages are almost the same. But the populations in the East of Ukraine were closer geographically and economically with Russia, while those in the West of Ukraine were closer to Europe, no matter the variant of Slavonic language they spoke.
That's why Russian won support from the population naturally closer to them geographically.

For the same reason, Crimeans couldn't care less whether their government was Russia or Ukraine. They probably haven't seen a single difference since.

Also the Russians were mostly interested in the DonBass, the industrial bassin. And that's were they concentrated their efforts.

Their efforts failed because Ukraine received enough support to face off the Russian agression, yet not enough to boot them out. The European didn't want an open war with Russia and were very cautious.

Later, a new problem appeared for Putin: The Russian government wasn't better than the Ukrainian one.
Populations in the east of Ukraine, living under a semi-legal, de facto, pro-Russian government (if that can be called a government), started to notice. They were also tired of never ending insecurity and shootings.

They now don't support anyone. Neither the Russians nor the Ukrainians.

I'm beginning to think that Russia is just looking for an excuse to take a sizable portion of Ukraine.

Here's another thought to consider, considering Russian military action in Ukraine. Its well worth being concerned about. And remeber, Hidden Biden is not showing any leadership, in gereral. So, why should the Russians be concerned about the US being serious over the threat over there?

JohnL, I don't think Joe Biden and the US in general is very interested with Ukraine.
Obama ignored Ukrained royally. Trump didn't pay attention at all. Biden is angry at Ukraine since they tried to investigate Burisma. There is no economic or strategic interest for the US in Ukraine...

It's mostly an East-European issue.

Now Putin is building up a 120 000 military force on the border with Ukraine. If he wants to invade nobody is able to stop him. Nato won't react against russian forces there directly.

You are most likely correct here. However, there is one thing that should cause the Russkies to hesitate. And that is the closure of the Bosporus Strait to them. That means they will have to rely on two more problematic outlets for economic/military issues. Even if the Turks are not up to it, the NATO forces can easily block off the straight, causing Russia great economic trouble.

I don't think there is a high risk of war but everybody is flexing his muscles.
Putin won't invade Ukraine if he knows that Ukrainians are able to defend themselves and have advanced weapons. They are certainly better armed and organised than 8 years ago when the Donesk war started.

The same with the Baltic states. Three months ago, near Klaipeda, the Lithuanians made a long range howitzer drill. Every day, all the day, for one week, one could hear the shots as far as 30 miles away. It was very impressive.

The americans are redeploying 3000 troops from Germany to Poland. + 300 to Lithuania. and a certain number to Romania.
Lithuania has asked for Nato rotations to be permanent.

All these countries are happy and thankful for your help.

I just read read this strain and wonder if John L has clairvoyant abilities. Don’t get excited John. You know I am a d bag. Just saying you wrote your instincts and they are tracking. I love to read the latest conspiracy theory and one caught my attention regarding the Ukraine Russian war. I went down a rabbit hole and with a grain of salt read this…The Russians invaded Ukraine because it housed the next generation of globalist sponsored biological weapons laboratories and Putin was going to fall on the sword taking them out to save the world. Sounds crazy right? Then I think about all that has come to light…Stolen election, FBI & CIA that hate America, bought and paid for politicians, herds of sheep people, and world today that makes zero sense. Might not be impossible?

If you want grist for a conspiratorial mindset, look up the things Soros has put his money into. There is more than the Wuhan virology lab that hired Dr. Fauci's EcoHealth Alliance company to create gain of function Covid bio-weapons in China. There may be such investments in the Ukkraine - you know there are such investments into the Biden Crime family.

Kremlin propagande started to spread the rumour that Covid was created in Ukraine.
In fact the 15 "Biological Weapon Research Facilities" funded by the CIA in Ukraine are medical labs where they test patients for covid, tuberculosis and so on.
Some of these labs have samples of pathogen potentially dangerous of released accidentally. Hence they advised to destroy them ( the germs, not the labs).
