GOP Holds Georgia House Seat
#1
OK, here's the thing with this seat. It's an area mainly right outside Atlanta. 38 years ago, this was Larry McDonald's seat, you guys recall him? Super hardcore righty.

Well, what has happened in the interim is Atlanta has become the best city on earth for on the ball black people to live and work. So, these burb cities that back then were little sleepy white towns are now close to majority black towns. You can drive through magnificent neighborhoods and not see 1 white family, I know, my daughter in law lives in Lawrenceville and she's black.

I say this because probably next election goes to the dems, it's a rapidly changing demographic. Georgia is also going to be a blue state by probably 2 more elections because of this huge migration of blacks into GA. It was not an easy win for Trump last election.

What is your point here? ... that a loss is really a win? ... and who are "ball black people" ?? Are those folks that work for Ball Corporation?

I looked it up, there are three or four plants Ball in the Atlanta area ... impressive!

"on the ball". You don't get hillbilly.

The point is demographics are rapidly changing and don't get disappointed when this seat turns democrat. It's inevitable and fairly soon. That's why it is close. 1980 this would have been a 65-35 GOP win.

Elections down here right now are 100 % about race, not ideas. Majority white, GOP, majority black, democrat. It's become that hard core loyalty thing.

I doubt there is one district that is majority white that went democrat and vice versa. Tom Price never got <60%, which means the district has already changed fairly dramatically.

Tom Price also had incumbency in his favor when he ran time after time. And he was a man. Karen Handel was the "first woman Republican ever elected to the House in Georgia." And she is a bit overweight.

Admittedly, the tens of millions of dollars poured into the district by rich Hollywood liberals probably backfired, causing voters to react with resentment at the outside interference, and really stirred up the Republican base so they turned out in large numbers.

When Handel in her speech gratefully acknowledged President Trump's help in her campaign, her audience cheered loudly. So it would seem that the "anti-Trump sentiment" liberals want to believe is growing even among Republicans, was not in evidence there.

The figure I heard was that with the money coming in from rich Californians and New Yorkers, Ossoff outspent by 7 to 1 ... and still lost.

Here's what pennies on the dollar buys you in Georgia.

Democrats say that money in politics is bad ... [pun alert] that's rich ... and they must consider it especially bad when they lose.  Particularly after tossing $43 Million down the crapper.

It did not backfire, they came within a hair of winning a seat that has never been democrat. They'll get that seat soon. Those burbs are rapidly turning black.

4% is NOT exactly a 'hair' and it cost somebody over $40 million. Keep at it by all means. You'll make a lot of media companies rich ... jobs for lots of graphic artists, photographers, editors, consultants and all the support staff. I'm not a big fan of redistribution of wealth, but if it comes from picking the pockets of a bunch of Hollywood idiots and creates jobs then it's part of "Making a America Great Again". And I find that f*cking awesome!!

What's more, is that the trend of Blacks sycophanticly voting Democrat may be changing. The longer the Dems are out of the captain's chair, the more evidence can happen to demonstrate who has their backs. It has been since FDR that the Blacks were kept out of the same reward system as everyone else. They were forced to live on the Nanny State, and their babies were slaughtered by Planned Parenthood to fulfill Margaret Sanger's idealism.

They can't be kept down forever.

It won't change soon and neither will white people down here stop "sycophanticly" voting GOP either.

It's hard core and it always has been in this area. The party loyalties just switched.

In 1928, the rare black person that could vote down here voted GOP if Hitler was on the ticket and outside East Tennessee, white folks were hard core democrats.

That changed with black voters some in 1932.

It changed drastically in 1964( because Goldwater voted against the civil rights act of 64, sole senator to do so) for blacks and was a done deal by 68 for both sides. Whites went for Nixon, switched parties officially and blacks went the other way.

That got hardened for blacks by Reagan in 80 when he visited the little town of Philadelphia where 3 civil rights workers were murdered in Mississippi.

It won't change soon.
