Dismantling Obama's Legacy: The Economy, Presidential Orders, Etc.
#21
Tommy,

He came closest of any POTUS since Carter in 2000. I thought they claimed that year as a balanced budget previously.

Bicycle,

If those headlines are accurate, we're going to have a hellacious correction in the S&P 500.

The problem as much as anything has been baseline budgeting. The current gang don't set up a budget from scratch, but start at the point spending was in the previous year, with the explanation that this amount was the necessary starting point for adding on spending. Instead of looking at pure costs with a normal balance sheet. the past budget is baked in.

There are many things that are true, however. One is the Laffer Curve, that tells us there is an optimum level to maximize revenue from taxation. Go above that point and increased tax levels results in lower income. When I was in Ann Arbor, The School of Economics said the debt was less dramatic than portrayed because the debt we owe, was owed to ourselves. That was then. The Laffer Curve idea is about the only thing that stops the outright confiscation of all wealth.

When it was Cloward-Pivened to the point we couldn't even afford the interest on loans from other nations, the strategy was parlayed into pure power and leverage. Everything is quid pro quo. As long as all debt-holder nations observe the wink and nod and no loans are called in, the game just goes on, only to be triggered if a non-quid pro quo administration gains power. It's a game - but an international one..

William,

It is an international game, but, I really think this generation might be the one to see what is partially a house of cards collapsing.

These uber low interest rates and the weakening economies in the Euro zone and NA mean we've about run out the string on the debt problem and monetary influences on the economies out here. They've lost the ability to help economies, just hurt them now if they raised rates. No where to go lowering rates.

Again, you didn't read what I posted. The complicit evil-doers criminally don't care if they overspend. They don't fear reprisal - because those who could stop them won't - they are all in it together. But let a good guy kick them out, and those same ne'er-do-wells will call the hand and crush the newbie good guys with the results of the crimes of those who got broomed.

Yes I did. The "complicit over spenders" are at it's core the people. Spending of leftists on their programs is not why we can't make ends meet.

Social security, medicare and DoD are where the money goes. I bet you are not for cutting spending on either of them.

I am.

I want DoD cut at least in half over a few years time.

Not the other 2 at least on what they payout(I am for privatization, but, not if they need to screw me further), I've been stolen from since I was 16 and I want mine back to the extent God allows me to keep living.

Nothing arguable there. But do understand that there is good spending and bad spending. Most government spending, in general, is skimmed to pay salaries of the myriads of bureaucrats who divvy it up. For some uncanny reason, they get paid before the money is directed where it is supposed to go. Entitlements may be well-meaning, but following the Cloward-Piven strategy, they are largely designed to fail on purpose, so the government can come in and seize more control to "fix" the problem they created in the first place. Do you think the Democrats care that Social Security is not fairly funded and paid out of the general fund and not Gore's "lock box"?

Then stop acting like only people you hold in contempt are the problem. You and I are a large part of the problem unless you want all 3 trimmed down.

Again - a non-sequitur. Nothing I said even remotely goes in that direction. WE have done nothing wrong. Morally bankrupt criminals caused that all on their own. Using innocents so you can hide behind their aprons end up with human shields getting killed. Whose fault do you suppose that is? We are NO PART of the problem.

William,

You are not for doing with less medicare, social security and DoD spending, so yea, you are a part of the problem in a major way. Those criminals are doing your bidding.

You just won't say it, you know these 3 are what drives the budget.

Why do you think I'm not for doing with less medicare, social security and DoD spending? You imagine things.

I am for doing them right.

You're just for complaining - no matter what.

You want less SS and medicare coverage? You want less DoD spending? Fixing them equals that, there is no magic way to avoid it.

You should be preaching this to the choir out here. Don't keep it so secretive.

Another sign tough times are coming.

Texans Are Cutting Back, Wheels Come off Houston Economy

When I first started selling real estate nearly 30 years ago an old broker told me the first sign that tough times are coming is when the decision makers stop buying homes. This usually happen about 9 months before a crash. They know that there will be layoffs because contracts are not being renewed, clients are not paying their bills etc. This afternoon I was reading an article on Christopher Walken, the article stated Walken and his wife have a summer home on Block Island, RI. I checked the price of homes on the island and discovered that most of the island is for sale.

I'll bet you I could be standing a long way off, and still be able to here MacDaddy scream over this ruling. S13

Obama Appointee Blocks Obama’s Signature Labor Reform: Judge grants temporary injunction against overtime regulations

Quote:“Today’s ruling is a serious and significant victory for the rule of law,” he said. “Franchise owners who had been facing significant costs and questions about the impact the overtime rule was creating for compliance with an unreasonable new threshold and automatic increases.”

It is the second major labor reform that has been put on hold in the past week. Another federal judge in Texas granted a permanent injunction against the department’s Persuader rule, which would have forced companies to disclose any outside counsel or consultants they meet with during a union organizing campaign.

The previous regulations held that disclosure was only required if those consultants or lawyers interacted with employees; the department sought to extend that to even private meetings with management. On Nov. 16, federal Judge Samuel Cummings said that those regulations “should be held unlawful and set aside.”

The preliminary injunction will remain in place while the court assesses the legality of the rule.

My best guess is that the Royal Decree will never see the light of day, for King Obama. S3

Its pretty much a "Given" that MacDaddy will be flooding the channels with presidential pardons before being forced out of office in January.  And here is one more that will most likely be part of that group.

Bergdahl asks Obama to pardon him before Trump takes office

Quote:Trump railed against Bergdahl while on the campaign trail, calling him a "dirty, rotten traitor" and joked about shooting him for abandoning his troops.

Hey, if he is abandoning his main cause, which got him into the White House, and has M. Coulter all in a twitter, then he can also renege on this one as well,.........right?  Shock

Big news is that Obama just commuted sentences and pardoned more people in one day than any other President ever. Good news is that Hillary and Kwame Kilpatrick didn't make the cut.
