Why Nothing is Labelled "Made in Russia"

Wait--I know. Don't Russians make those nesting doll-within-a-doll thingies?

That's right Ron. I guess you aren't as "disgusting" as I am. I need more practice. Spiteful

That must be the Russian section of the liquor store!

Don't they make vodka out of potatoes? Funny Ireland is not known for its vodka.

Actually vodka is made from cereal grains as well as potatoes.  Do a search for vodka and it will tell you that.

Quote:Production

Vodka may be distilled from any starch- or sugar-rich plant matter; most vodka today is produced from grains such as sorghum, corn, rye or wheat. Among grain vodkas, rye and wheat vodkas are generally considered superior. Some vodkas are made from potatoes, molasses, soybeans, grapes, rice, sugar beets and sometimes even byproducts of oil refining or wood pulp processing. In some Central European countries, such as Poland, some vodka is produced by just fermenting a solution of crystal sugar and yeast. In the European Union there are talks about the standardization of vodka, and the Vodka Belt countries insist that only spirits produced from grains, potato and sugar beet molasses be allowed to be branded as "vodka", following the traditional methods of production.

In the United States, many vodkas are made from 95% ethanol produced in large quantities by agricultural-industrial giants Archer Daniels Midland and Midwest Grain Processors. Bottlers purchase the base spirits in bulk, then filter, dilute, distribute and market the end product under a variety of vodka brand names.

Well, this has "Made In Russia" all over it: Russians fear nuclear doomsday as giant mushroom cloud appears over skies in Siberia .

Quote:An enormous mushroom-shaped cloud rises ominously above a Siberian town - sparking fears among witnesses that doomsday has arrived.

The terrifying sight could be seen for miles around and was captured on video from the city of Kemerovo, in Russia's Kemerovo Oblast region.

Emergency services were inundated with calls from worried onlookers that a nuclear bomb had been dropped and that annihilation was imminent.

A nuclear bomb-produced mushroom cloud is tighter in shape, with more of a mushroom-like cap. That cloud probably was produced by conventional high-explosives.

Not so.  I too have seen this very type of mushroom cloud at least twice, perhaps more.  I've known for some time that this is due to a single thunderstorm, that is not so huge, but occurs in a lightly clouded day.  When the water cascades to the ground, it sucks a sizable portion of the upper canopy into the funnel of water, giving the column the mushroom appearance.

Here is what you failed to see in the article.

Quote:In fact, the terrifying-looking spectacle was in reality a rather beautiful, naturally occurring thunderstorm cloud.  "Cumulo-nimbus: I'll have to look that one up.  Not certain about the "nimbus" part.   Spiteful

The anvil-shaped cumulo-nimbus often appears after a heavy thunderstorm, meteorologists told news agency Sputnik.

Ok, here's the definition of a Cumulonimbus cloud
