Civilian Space Program Making Great Strides
#1
For those not keeping up with the civilian space program, Monday witnessed the a historic event. SpaceX launched a rocket carrying eleven small satellites, and then had the main rocket return to the launch site and land safely.

SpaceX rocket landing opens 'new door' to space travel

Here's what they expect in the future.

They are just trying to trick us by showing the takeoff in reverse.

Otherwise, pretty cool.

Musk is maybe the most productive genius in recent human history. Kind of an oddball, but, man is he a genius or what? Honestly?

Even if his Tesla flops, even if he is a typical western big businessman who knows how to rape the taxpayers of states and he sure as hell does, he is still so much farther ahead of a man like Einstein in using his mind for productive uses.

Paypal, Tesla, space exploration and he is into some other "environmental" fixative thing beyond Tesla I think.

Why Blue Origin’s rocket landing shouldn’t be compared to SpaceX

And not to be outdone by its competitor , SpaceX Sticks a Rocket Landing at Sea in Historic First - See more at: http://www.space.com/32517-spacex-sticks-rocket-landing-sea-dragon-launch.html#sthash.FvyKioPw.dpuf

SpaceX lands rocket at sea, makes history

This really does cut down on the costs for getting payloads into space, and return landing.  Not sure just how much percentage wise, SpaceX is saving over NASA, or the Russians, but it is most certainly HUGE.

Now, all we need is to find a way to mass produce carbon nanotubes, and we can build space elevators, which will make travel into space on par with early passenger flight.
