Sad Puppies And Sci Fi
#1
I'll confess here, I haven't really paid all that much attention of late about the ins and outs of the Hugo Awards. I generally read what I think I will like, and don't go out of my way to go after a book, or story, just because it has a Hugo, or even a Nebula added to the front cover.

So it was with interest that I read an article from Wired, just now, about the infighting going on within the Hugo Awards process, and the politics that is tearing things apart. I know we have several dedicated Sci Fi readers here, including myself, and I am wondering if any of them are up to speed over this food fight between the Sad Puppies, as well as the Rabid Puppies, against the establishment "SJWs"(Social Justice Warriors). Just what all is going on here, and who are the ones being purposefully omitted from awards?

From what I understand, writing for Tor is the best way to obtain a Rocket. Is this why some of the previously non-Tor writers have begin to write for them, including David Weber? And what is the deal with Bean Books?

Here's what looks like the establishment side of the fight: Who Won Science Fiction’s Hugo Awards, and Why It Matters

And here's the rebellious take: SET PHASERS TO KILL! SJWS BURN DOWN THE HUGO AWARDS TO PROVE HOW TOLERANT AND WELCOMING THEY ARE.
