Global cooling, er, I mean warming, er, wait...PT. 2

And here is something of special interest for you Jack, courtesy of Empire News: Meteorologists Predict Record-Shattering Snowfall Coming Soon.

[Image: Meteorologists-Predict-Record-Shattering...-Soar-.jpg]

But wait! This article from last week has got to be satire, correct? Well, yes it really is. EmpireNews.net is a satire news site, and obviously more of them are beginning to crop up, as they are cashing in on The Onion's reputation.

However, as America's 'so called' Truth Detector has stated, for satire to be successful, it needs to have an element of truth for it to have a real impact. And boy is this true with the cooling of the planet, and the 'official' dogma of your local Big Government.

So, here's the revelation, which exposes the satire for,.....well,......satire. Snowpocalypse Record Snow Fall Hoax: ‘Meteorologists Predict Record-Shattering Snowfall Coming Soon’ is Fake; El Nino Article from Empire News Tricks Many

Quote:“Chances are you will hear a lot about El Niño in the next month or two. Meteorologists and weather science experts at the National Weather Service (NWS) say that there is a 99% chance that the we will start to see a massive cold-front sooner in the year than has ever happened, which will produce not just record-breaking snowfall, but according to Dr. Boris Scvediok, a doctor of global weather sciences, record shattering snow storms across the board, affecting the entire United States,” the fake article says. “Edward F. Blankenbaker, Senior Administrator of Meteorologists, also told the media that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of snowy winter,” it adds.

The interesting thing is that the "Element of Truth" is really a great geal more than just an element. Past experience, regardless what the WH and the EPA tell us, things are really getting colder and snow is occurring at almost unheard of early times.

And this is also telling. The Whores are not going to let the rest of us forget that this was a hoax, and will Never, NEVER, happen: Record-shattering snow this winter? Don’t fall for it. But suppose we do receive record snow fall this winter, and it Really does happen? What then?

(09-12-2014, 09:21 AM)John L Wrote: Not sure how big your garden is. But the snow is really not the main problem. In fact, snow is an insulator against cold, I mean really cold. I've been lazy in posting on the coming cold this winter, and will post on it on the other thread.

Is there any way you can cover everything with a huge sheet of plastic? Lowes and Home Depot sells those sheets at a reasonable price. If you cover the garden completely, the plastic will trap the heat underneath and keep it warmer than the surrounding property.

Just a thought. But here's another thought. Have you considered building a greenhouse that is practical and economical? Do you live in a neighborhood with restrictions? And are you going to continue planting gardens after this?

I've appear to have dodged the bullet so far. The temp stayed slightly above freezing ... but not by much. The stuff I really want to keep going as long as possible (insanely hot peppers - Thai Dragon, Ghost, Trinidad Scorpion and Carolina Reaper) live in pots that will stay in the garage until tomorrow. I do the tarp thing as well but most of my tomatoes were already starting to swoon. I only covered about a third of them. I have 5 gallon buckets over the other few items. The other thing that works very well into the upper 20s is pint, quart and gallon plastic jugs with warm tap water (basically heat capacitors) in under the tarps or buckets. A green house would be fun but still wouldn't extend the season indefinitely. I'd have to heat it somehow ... and when the temp hit's -20°F that's pretty much a non-starter. If things remain relatively 'normal' (which last night wasn't), I've got maybe another month tops ... but an 'unanticipated' Arctic blast could derail that real quick.

We'd need at least five straight years of much, much colder winters to even begin to change the dialog. I know people that are completely invested in global warming and a half decade of much colder "direct experience" is what I would figure it would take to make a few of them reconsider. If things remain in a narrow enough band, however, they'll continue arguing their cause. Some would continue arguing even as they froze ... like Bill Murray's character in Ground Hog Day. I remain skeptical of "climate change" in either direction. The country fought it's way through terrible cooling prior to and during the Revolutionary War and fought it's way through the devastation of dust bowl of the '30s ... both of these were far more dramatic 'climate' events than anything we've been experiencing in the last few decades.

Man, those Global Cooling Deniers sure are great at scheduling their mob rants. And the usual suspect(Algore) is supposed to attend, which almost guarantees the weather will be cold. S13

Tens of thousands expected at New York climate march

It will be interesting to see if they turn out in t-shirts and shorts,..........or perhaps jackets and gloves?

This one rates up there with my laugh of the week:

On Wednesday afternoon, the climate activist group Penn Futures hosted a Twitter q-&-a with serial litigant and self-conferred Nobel Laureate Michael E Mann under the new hashtag #AskDrMann. How'd it go? Well...

Most disastrous self-promoted hashtag I've seen in months: #AskDrMann.

Twitchy has an entertaining round-up of the hashtag debacle - or, as one Tweeter calls it, "the Barbra Streisand Effect on Steroids". As readers well know from his Twitter feed and Facebook page, Dr Mann is a tireless deleter and blocker, but for #AskDrMannAnythingYouLike events such as this he takes the precaution of pre-warning any impertinent whippersnappers out there:

Looking forward to #AskDrMann questions. Note that trolls & those engaged in bad faith will be blocked & reported.

"Reported"? To whom? The Climate Police? The IPCC? The EPA Swat team (that's not a joke, by the way)? It's never a smart move to launch an ask-me-anything! session by threatening to report anyone who takes the offer seriously. The ensuing comedy added greatly to the gaiety of life. Go to #AskDrMann and scroll up:

#AskDrMann:When your books & your court filings say opposite things, which (if either) are true?

#AskDrMann: Which of the 52 excuses for the 18-year "pause" do you believe?

#AskDrMann Why did you not report your multiple experiments w/ the NA treering PC1 "fix" in MBH99?

#askdrmann Why did #climate science insiders privately say so many unflattering things about your work? http://tomnelson.blogspot.com/search/lab...ael%20mann

#askdrmann Do you stand by your claim that you have been exonerated?

#AskDrMann Why does your Sept 3 legal brief falsely claim that every peer-reviewed study found McIntyre & McKitrick work to be inaccurate?

Where do you keep your Nobel Prize? #AskDrMann

#AskDrMann When you claimed to be a Nobel laureate, didn't you make yourself a "public figure" under New York Times v. Sullivan?

Earth hasn't warmed in almost two decades. Possible all that "missing" heat was on Lois Lerner's hard drive when it "crashed"? #AskDrMann

#AskDrMann What is greater, temp increase in the last 15 years or the number of amicus briefs filed on your behalf in Mann v. Steyn

#AskDrMann Your CV list you as coauthor of "the" WMO 1999 diagram but your Reply Memorandum states the opposite. Why? http://climateaudit.org/2014/09/10/anoth...-fontaine/

If you block people does it mean their arguments no longer exist? #AskDrMann

#AskDrMann Was the "science settled" when Stalin endorsed Lysenko's theory of quick evolution? After all, 99% of Soviet biologists agreed!

#AskDrMann Are you aware of the extent to which you personally have contributed to the rise in skepticism & distrust of climate science?

#AskDrMann@PennFuture On a scale of 1 - 10, how successful would you say this twitter Q&A hashtag is?

#AskDrMann Could you please list all the amici who are supporting your legal position? You can borrow this post-it and imaginary pen.

Why do you BLOCK people who disagree rather than let them see YOUR point of view? #AskDrMann

Saw that article yesterday, too.

At least it is an admission that the "science" isn't settled and, by extension, the debate is not over.

More info from the lefty side that AGW isn't what the purveyors have been preaching:

http://www.latimes.com/science/la-sci-pa...story.html

Now, an aside, the poll numbers show the Americans are heading to AGW fears, just as the facts become clearer AGW is nonsensical fear mongering.

Newsmax.com has just published this:

Quote:No Global Warming in 18 Years

On September 21, an estimated 300,000-plus demonstrators turned out for the People's Climate March in New York City to call for international action against climate change.

Two days later, President Obama addressed the United Nations General Assembly and called on all countries to cut carbon emissions "right now."

And eight days after that, October 1, will mark 18 consecutive years without global warming.

There has been "no significant warming trend in surface average temperature" in those 18 years, said Patrick Michaels, director of the Cato Institute's Center for the Study of Science.

Al Gore and other climate change alarmists will have to concede that their predictions of catastrophic global warming were off by a long shot, Michaels, who has a doctorate in ecological climatology, told CNS News.

"It has to be admitted eventually that too much warming was forecast too fast," he said. "This just has to happen. You can't go on and on and on.

"If the surface temperature resumed the warming rate that we observed from, say 1977 through 1998, we would still go close to a quarter of a century without significant net warming because there's such a long flat period built into the record now."

Michaels pointed to findings by the University of Illinois' Polar Ice Research Center that Antarctic ice "is at its highest extent measured by the current microwave satellite sounding system" since 1978.

"And if you take a close look at the Arctic data, it appears the decline [in polar ice] stopped around 2005/2006, which means we've almost had 10 years without any net loss in Arctic ice."

Michaels spent three decades as a research professor of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia and was a contributing editor to the United Nations' second Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report.

He noted that in a survey earlier this year, global warming ranked No. 19 out of 20 issues that Americans consider top priorities — and contrasted that with Secretary of State John Kerry's recent proclamation that climate change is "the biggest challenge of all that we face right now."

Michaels told CNS: "I would say that his order of needs is a little bit out of whack."

Zap warmists with this one and watch their reaction, from the 2007 IPCC report:

Quote:For the next two decades, a warming of about 0.2°C per decade is projected for a range of SRES emission scenarios. Even if the concentrations of all greenhouse gases and aerosols had been kept constant at year 2000 levels, a further warming of about 0.1°C per decade would be expected.

The reality is....:

They deny it all the time in Facebook.

You guys didn't get the memo:

the problem is not Global Warming, the problem is "Climate Change".

Nothing you've shown shows that the climate has not been changing even while the atmospheric temperature has remained flat.

He, he.

Oh, wait...

nothing anyone has shown shows that human CO2 emissions are causing the atmosphere to warm detectably. Therefore, we humans aren't causing the atmosphere to warm or are we causing the climate to change.

Never mind.

Here comes the next thing to be worried about, with Climate Change(Is that better JW?) affecting humans.

Climate Change Could Alter the Human Male-Female Ratio

Not to worry though. If this scare attempt doesn't receive the desired effect, there will be another cause coming down the pike. S13

Here's just one more example of an innocent species being harmed by that Horrible Global Warming thing.

Goat Shrinkage And Global Warming Fear-Mongering

That list total of things being harmed by a warming planet is beginning to take up more than just a few pages. No wonder we should all be running around in circles. S5
