New Energy Source: Methane hydrates.

Notice the increase in the potential of wars over control of small islands in several places.... what about India vs Thailand one day?

I wish I could find the thread where I discussed Methyl Hydrates. Its an old thread, but it talks about how huge amounts of this gas tend to out-vent huge amounts of gas. So much so that ships caught in the venting will lose buoyancy and sink. piston driven aircraft flying through the escaped gas can ignite the gas and cause huge explosions, destroying the aircraft.

This is thought to be one of the reasons why the Bermuda Triangle is considered such a dangerous area, due to the unusual amounts of all this methyl hydrate volume escaping to the ocean's surface, in gigantic quantities.

How brilliant computer scientists solved the Bermuda Triangle mystery

The article should be interesting, considering that these hydrates are found all over the world's deep oceans, where they come up from within the planet. Just one more case for the abiotic oil hypothesis, over the fossil fuel one.

Its natural gas. If an automobile is set up for natural gas, it will run on it.

I think there was a Tom Clancy novel a few years ago that featured ships being sunk by outgassing of methane hyrdrates.
That Methane hydrates may dsetroy planes because the gas explodes is IMO still to be verified because when it dissipates in the atmospherem at the altitude where planes are flying and even a few hundreds feet above the sea, the concentration of gas is not enough to cause explosion.

But it can disrupt engines. We can imagine that these gas take fires in the jet engines and burn at unexpected monent and unexpected places.
But this too would require gigantic amounts of gas.

What is scientificaly calculated thought (if not verified by the facts already) is that the gas reduce the density of water which is not able to bear the weigh of the ships anymore. And the ships sink.
