Kalifornia Leading The Way Over The Cliff
'Delayed' six months is not quite the same as a collapse.

Quote:Brown’s $100 billion vanity project may meet its demise at the hands of the federal government.

No friggin' way! At least not while Obama is still President ... and that's another 44 months by my count. The feds will find a way to issue the grants ... contracts and sequester be damned! He'll find a way. To loosely paraphrase Rahm Emanuel ... never let a 'crisis' avert waste!

Apparently nobody has told Brown that his project is doomed. ... and if they did, he probably isn't listening anyway.

I pity the land owner anywhere near where they break ground on "point A" of the train to nowhere ... it's gonna be eminent domain on steroids ... Brown likely got some special tutoring from the Chinese on this during his trip. If they were creative, they'd start it in Watts or Oakland ... but it will most likely be some poor farmers that get the shaft first. The 'foreplay' has already begun.

Au contraire, mr_yak, the first ground breaking may lavishly reward those whose land was taken. That happened in a gummint project in Ohio, in my neighborhood. The logic is that other in the vicinity will slaver over being bought out, and so not oppose the project. Later on, the rubber will hit the road and the gummint will begin to screw people in various ways.
Jefferson: I place economy among the first and important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.
Somebody will make some big coin for sure ... but my bet is on a relative or buddy of one of the folks who know what is being planned to go where ... or some contractor that has the inside scoop. Farmer Jones will get cut out of the deal ... or will be made to settle for a few of the crumbs that fall off some cronies table. It's Kalifornia ... and they tend to screw their (non-connected) citizens early and often.

Not everyone is happy with Jerry Brown signing all those wacky sanctuary laws of late. The law enforcement industry is having a cow.

California Sheriffs Call on Congress to Stop Their ‘Sanctuary’ State. Law enforcement: New law could provide safe harbor to MS-13

Quote:California’s sheriffs are calling on the GOP-controlled Congress to intervene and pass a federal law to change the state’s sanctuary state status, warning the law that ties their hands too tightly will only increase the chances of another high-profile tragedy.

The sanctuary state law, which Gov. Jerry Brown (D.) signed Thursday but doesn't go into effect until January, is the most far-reaching of its kind in the country and places sharp limits on how local law enforcement agencies can communicate with federal immigration authorities.

It would also make it a crime to enforce federal immigration laws on the premises of all schools, hospitals, libraries, and courthouses in state, which is home to an estimated two million immigrants.

Making the entire state a sanctuary for illegal immigrants is California's latest salvo in its war with President Donald Trump over immigration policy, but law enforcement officials say it's the state’s citizens who will pay the price with higher crime rates and avoidable tragedies.

Of course, not all Sheriffs agree. Some are progressive idiots, themselves. The majority who actually understand the consequences should be listened to,
