#1
I download and installed the Maxthon browser this evening, it is different than IE, Firefox etc. It is also very fast, give it a try.

I love that browser. I used it for years before I bought my iMac. It saddens me they haven't developed one for the Mac yet. I wish they would.

I believe Maxthon is one of several browsers that started out, or are still Internet Explorer core programs having a customized 'shell', which allows it to feel like a different browser. I believe I have used it, along with a few others, just to see how they worked. And they did work better than the 'hoo-hum' IE.

One thing they claim, which is false: 2005- Maxthon becomes the first browser with tabs. That is not true. I have been using Opera since 1996,or 1997, and have been using tabs even back then. I currently have twelve tabs open, which is what I have been prone to do for years.

I may give it a whirl again. I wonder if it may have a security danger being from PRC? Just curious.

Maxthon is no longer IE core since M3 came out. MAYBE even M2.

It's won me over. I've been using Firefox since it first became available, I haven't been happy with it for about 6 months as some pages take forever to load.

I switched back to Safari for now until either Maxthon gets an Apple compatible browser or FF stops "improving" itself because the last 3 updates/versions are no improvement.

It's a Chinese browser, how safe is it to use on online banking sites?

Safer than IE!

I've used it exclusively until two years ago. I used it for everything and I had no hacking issues. If you don't feel safe, use a different browser for your banking. Most of the developers are spread out all over the world.

I would be extremely surprised if it is more secure than IE9.

I honestly wouldn't know. I stopped using anything Windows two years ago when I bought my iMac. I've so many less headaches.

I've been using Windows 7 for the past 2 years without a single problem.

No problems here either. I have more headaches on the OSX platform because of all the compatibility issues. A secure Windows 7 environment is fast, reliable and versatile.

Aside from user error or doing things they shouldn't be doing (clicking random e-mails, going to sites that have illegal content, installing pirated software, etc) it's a fairly robust system.

Maxthon 2 is still IE core based. It still many times more secure, faster and easier to use than IE.
I'm using it all the time.
