I live in Ontario which is governed by progressives, here's what is included in their sex educations for children. One of the individuals responsible for developing this program was just sentenced to prison for being involved with child porn.

Well, this is Not a parody or a joke. And ZeroHedge has done an even better job of reporting on this crisis than most.

The European Union Is Disintegrating: Austria Builds New Fence; Germany, Sweden Resume Border Checks

Quote:It was just two days ago when we reported that Slovenia had begun to construct its own version of Viktor Orban’s now infamous razor wire, anti-migrant fences. As The New York times noted, more than 170,000 refugees from the war-torn Mid-East have crossed into Slovenia from Croatia in the last month alone. To get an idea of just how dramatic that is, relatively speaking, consider that Slovenia is a nation of just two million.

Slovenian prime minister, Miro Cerar, is concerned that with winter right around the corner, his country will not have the resources to house the migrants even if it wanted to, setting up the possibility that a severe humanitarian crisis could unfold. In short, Slovenia was able to cope with the flows from Croatia as long as a roughly equal number of migrants were exiting to Austria, but if anything slowed the migrants’ progress into Austria and Germany (like border controls for instance), then tiny Slovenia would be in a tough spot.

And so, Slovenia built a razor wire fence on its border with Croatia. Croatia dubbed the project “a waste of time.”

Now, as Reuters reports, “The European Commission has formally authorized the temporary reimposition of border controls by Sweden and Germany's extension of frontier checks.”

Meanwhile, Austria is following in Slovenia and Hungary's footsteps on the way to constructing yet another fence. Here's AFP:

Quote:In a new blow to the EU's cherished open-border Schengen accord, Austria announced Friday it would erect a 3.7-kilometre (2.3-mile) metal fence along its border with Slovenia to better manage a record influx of migrants and refugees.

The barrier, due to be completed in less than six weeks, will be the first fence between two members of the passport-free zone.

Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner insisted the "fence conforms to the Schengen accord", adding that it was part of temporary measures aimed at "channelling" the human flow.

"We are talking here about an ordered inflow and not a barrier," Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann's chief of staff, Josef Ostermayer, told reporters in Vienna.

Austria's mesh fence either side of the Spielfeld border crossing point in southern Austria will be 2.2 metres (7.2 feet) high.

Barbed wire will be stored in nearby containers ready to be rolled out along the border -- within the passport-free Schengen zone -- if the situation escalates, officials said on Friday.

Austria had initially planned to install a 25-kilometre fence but "our Slovenian colleagues have asked us to not do this immediately," said Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

"They have offered to increase border security measures by erecting a fence to create a safety corridor and to reinforce police patrols on the Slovenian side to prevent (unofficial) border crossings."

However Austrian authorities were ready to unfurl the entire 25-kilometre fence if Slovenia's measures failed to control the flow, she stressed.

These fences are necessary. The refugee influx is a problem with a cause external to the Shengen zone. The cause is not the Shengen Zone, and the Shengen Zone is not raquestionned, in principle. The refugee crisis made it impracticable. Like a tsunami would jeopardize the free swimming at a beach.

Head's up Fred, Credit Suisse is warning that the fate of the monetary union hangs in the balance if Europe's policymakers are unable to ward off another global slump and quell anti-euro populism. This is something that cannot be overlooked.

Fresh recession will cause eurozone collapse, warns Swiss bank

Everything is hanging on a string, not only in Euroland, but North America and Asia as well. Euro-Socialism has left most of Europe shackled to terrible debt and an economic quagmire. In the US, debt is so huge that it is almost impossible to clear up. And China......................China is still robbing Peter to pay Paul. They are all dominoes stood up in a line. When one tips over, they ALL are going to do the same.

Can you say World Depression? And do you not believe that in Europe and the US, demagogues are not in the lead? 1930s Europe anyone?

No, I don't love it Fred. This whole thing is sad, tell you the truth. And the sad thing is that this will only get worse ad the EU begins to fold up.

Somme trend-line experts have been saying this for over twenty years. The world is in the process of downsizing. How many Europeans actually want Brussels to control their lives? And don't feel bad, this thing is going to upset the apple cart here in the US, mark my words. Many states are going to demand they get their powers back, or they will begin making an exit.

Interesting that the EU's own rules are being ignored - similar to Obama ignoring our immigration laws. How will suing anyone solve anything when it is the law, itself, being ignored.

I did like the caption on the photo: "Migrants board a bus at an open Migrant camp in Vamosszabadl, Hungary on August 1, 2016. Photo taken on August 30, 2016." It's good to know that Hungary does not have time travel yet.

I think Junker has really lost it.  First he threatens the Suisse for not allowing just anyone to drift through its borders.

Then he suggestsThreatens  UK will not have access to single market after Brexit.

-EU Commission President says Europe facing a "battle for survival" against nationalism and populism
-Suggests UK will not have access to single market when it leaves
-Announces creation of 100,000-strong EU "youth corps" to tackle refugee crisis
-Uses murder of Polish man in Essex as example of what happens if Europe "does not unite"

Juliet Samuel is looking at this and thinks "The EU's federalists are heading for defeat. Britain must be ready to pick up the pieces"

Now, this should be interesting. France is set to Became The First Country To Ban Plastic Cups, Plates And Cutlery.

Eco-warriors are applauding the new law, but not everybody is happy with the idea. Some speculate that it violates European Union rules on free movement of goods and hurts the consumers. Some are worried that the French ban could extend to other countries, which could infringe on EU laws. Pack2Go Europe, a Brussels-based organization representing European packaging manufacturers, says it will fight it.

Quote:"We are urging the European Commission to do the right thing and to take legal action against France for infringing European law," Pack2Go Europe secretary general Eamonn Bates told The Associated Press. "If they don't, we will."

The ban was initially proposed by the Europe Ecologie-Greens Party and was adopted by French lawmakers with the aim of reducing the energy consumed and waste produced by the plastic processing industry, as well as the pollution caused by plastic litter.

This could set up yet one more confrontation with the EU.

But in the meantime, the EU leaders met at Bratislava, and made some good promises, but were short on concrete commitments for closing ranks.

EU leaders look at 6 months for rebuilding EU dream

Quote:"Europe can, must move forward, as long as it has clear priorities: protection, security, prosperity and the future of the youth," said French President Francois Hollande in a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Merkel called the current situation in the EU "critical," not only because Britain voted in June to leave the EU, the first ever member to do so.

She noted the migration crisis and economic problems that have fed growing disenchantment with the EU among many member states. Still, she said there was a common willingness to bounce back beyond the many issues that divide and even anger individual EU nations.

EU Council President Donald Tusk agreed, saying the mood in the EU now was "sober but not defeatist."

Still, comments by some leaders as they left the meeting suggested hard work ahead.

And as the old saying goes, "After all is said and done, there's a whole lot more said than done."  S5

Meanwhile Jean-Claude Juncker continues to push for a unified standing military. That way, if anyone wants to opt out, they can always send in the military to quell any such craziness. Spiteful

-What JC Junker says is his opinion and it's not shared by everybody at the EU. He doesn't have the power to decide of the future of the EU.

-Free travel (understand no control whatsoever at interstate borders) is and should remain the pillar of European unity. If you want to be part of the common market, you can't pretend at the same time to be protectionist with your workforce or consider fellow european as unwelcome.
Controling poeple at the border with the right to reject entry is an offense to other europeans. If you want to trade on a trustful basis, you have to show a minimum of respect for others, for those who will buy your products.
I support this view 100%

I'll add that if an ashole stops me and check my ID everytime I go to his country, then he deserves to pay a 25% duty everytime he wants to sell something in my country.
Yet, I think it's better that he doesn't check me, and I don't tax him.

-Never heard of a 100,000-strong EU "youth corps" to tackle refugee crisis

-I don't think a unified military will take shape, unless it has a specific role in protecting external borders. But a common border guard force (against migrants) is more and more accepted as a concept and a reality.
Europe will be able to protect herself from land and sea invasions only if every country unify their resources in a cohesive strategy.
If migrants can reach Sweden, it's in the interrest of Sweden to participate in the security if the Mediterranean sea. Won't be the first time the Vikings sailed that far away...

-I'm glad you read this article about the ban on disposable plastic dishwares.
It shows that sovereign countries are increasing the burden, and the EU can help lift it.

I'm against baning product (unless utterly hazardous) because I'm a proponent of recycling. Banning products discourage recycling. And if you want to ban every polluting product you have to go back to the cave age and dress up yourself in animal skin.
