Muslim Woman To Lead College Holocaust Center

Quote:Muslim Woman To Lead College Holocaust Center

Manhattan College is revamping its Holocaust Center to include the further study of other genocides, as well as interfaith activities that would include Islam alongside Judaism and Christianity — the two religions that until now have been mostly alone at the core of Holocaust interfaith issues.

Iran's Ahmadinejad seen nodding with approval. S6

In all truth, it is Muslims, such as her, who have any chance of pulling Islam out of the gutter. We actually need more like her kind IMO.

And I would guess that Ahmadinejad will not be happy over this.

I agree with John L.

and here's this quote from that news article:
Quote:Afridi is awaiting publication of her first book, “The Shoah Through Muslim Eyes.” The book, Afridi told The Jewish Week, grew out of “my frustration with the anti-Semitism within the Muslim community, its lack of education, [its] denial of the Holocaust, or those that say it wasn’t six million but two million. Negating someone’s history or someone’s truth is actually quite a huge sin.”

“I want to educate people about Muslims,” she said, “but I don’t want to [always have to] defend Islam, because I don’t think it’s the greatest religion in the world. I happen to like aspects of it; I’m a liberal Muslim. When people ask me about the Five Pillars [of Islam], I say, you know, I’m kind of like a two-pillar girl.”

My guess is most Muslims would say she isn't a Muslim at all. How can she be when she states it isn't the "greatest religion"? If I felt that way about Christ, I'd not believe in Him. I'd go believe in the "greatest idea".

No way Ahmadinejad likes this girl.

I would have to disagree. I've known plenty of Christians who believes completely in Jesus Christ and all that jazz, but they don't believe that it's the "Greatest religion" ever in that sense that it's superior to all others' beliefs and therefore must be followed by everyone or else.

I also know of casual Christians, who loves Jesus but not the bible as seeing they believe that the bible, the parts that doesn't have Jesus in them at least, tends to muddy the waters when it should had been clear in the first place. so they tend to distill Jesus's teachings into basic commands for themselves to follow but they don't follow anything else.

I believe she was simply stating that people have their own beliefs, and that she doesn't believe that everyone needs to be converted to Islam pronto.

AM,

My believing Jesus is as reported in the Gospels doesn't lead me to think you( or others) have to agree. It leads me to reject the alternatives as inauthentic comparatively speaking for my own life. Otherwise I'd believe them and reject Christ..

If your Christian friends know of a superior(greatest in effect) belief system , it would seem they should lose their faith in Christ and believe in whatever is the greatest they can discover. I don't see how one could do otherwise.

it's more of a "what works for me, doesn't always work for others" mentality than about which religion is the single best one EVER. you see, religion isn't supposed to be some sort of competition... it's supposed to be a belief system that helps and does something for us all.

Believing in Jesus Christ works for those Christians because it resonates with them. So they believe in it... but they also recognize that believing in J.C doesn't always work for others because others don't always see or feel the same messages that they do.

Sometimes others need a different religion, such as Buddhism, for instance, in order to be happy. So Buddism could work for some people but it would never work for you.

Does that mean Buddhism is better than your christian religion? no.... it's ALL ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING DIFFERENT NEEDS, religion-wise.

that's what this lady was trying to say here... and also what I was trying to say here.

AM,

I guess that's what she was saying, ( and I do think you read her right) that means she doesn't have any faith in anything much. As I suggested, she's a cultural Muslim like some folks see "Christian" here as a "morally sound person" EX the belief system.

Muslim to her = decent person.

I like it myself, but, she would be in danger in most Islamic regions with that attitude.

I believe Iran's religious nutcase will do just that. I knew a few people who served with the UN after the Iran/Iraq war. They had to clean up hundreds off mummified Iranian soldiers clutching their plastic key to paradise. They were mostly poorly trained draftees who were advised by their mullahs there was no need to worry about dying as their plastic key to paradise guaranteed entry.

It has already been removed from the maps used in the schools where the Palestinians children are taught.
