Actually, the perception of hot or cold is controlled by the thalamus gland. (Link: http://www.news-medical.net/health/What-...us-do.aspx ) Some experts say that climbers near the top of Mt. Everest who are freezing to death, are sometimes found with much of their clothing taken off. They theorize that as blood is withdrawn from the extremities to warm the body core as part of the body's desperate attempt to survive, this warm blood hits the thalamus and makes the dying person feel hot, so in the delirium of dying he or she begins removing clothing. This phenomenon of partially unclothed frozen bodies are said to characterize many of the bodies that litter the upper reaches of Mt. Everest--some 200 plus bodies at present. (Link: http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20151008...ead-bodies ) There is seldom much effort to bring the bodies down because it is too hard. They are frozen solid, partially embedded in ice, and at that altitude climbers have to breath bottled oxygen, and can typically only carry enough for a few hours. Helicopters cannot reach that altitude.

Sounds to me that there are actually two real problems there.  First, there is not enough oxygen to the brain for them to be able to think clearly.  People do strange things when they are oxygen deprived.

Secondly, is the problem with "layering".  My guess is that these folks were not taught properly on the need to layer.  I was taught that from Day One in Alaska.  Always wear many layers of clothing and when you exercise and begin to heat up, start removing layers in order to keep from sweating.  It is Sweat, which will cause a person to freeze to death, because it freezes and the clothing does not have the ability to get the moisture away from the body.

These two things are the main reason why those folks keep freezing to death way up there.   I'll bet you Ronald, a Canadian, will back me up on this.

I suspect that nothing compares to the extreme conditions near the top of Mount Everest (unless it were trying to climb Olympus Mons on Mars). Climbers need to breath bottled oxygen up there--it is far above the altitude at which airplane pilots are required to use oxygen. And the air is so thin that helicopters cannot go that high. In practical terms, Mount Everest is so high, it virtually rises up above the atmosphere. Even Sherpas need to breath bottled oxygen. Proper layering of clothing is probably the least of the concerns of the climbers. Everyone knows to dress warmly, and the guides (at least for the groups) check everyone. The official height of Mount Everest is 8,848 meters (29,029 ft) above sea level. Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Everest -- Pilots are required to breath oxygen at less than half that altitude, so they don't black out while sitting at the controls of their aircraft.

Even so, every so often there is some yahoo who decides for whatever reason that he or she is going to trying to summit the mountain without bottled oxygen. That amounts to trying to do something very strenuous without breathing.

Also bear in mind that while it is very cold atop Mount Everest, the air is also very much thinner, so the "real feel" temperature would not be as severe as at sea level. You wouldn't cool off nearly as quickly in such thin air.

Kathy Reichs, a real forensic anthropologist who wrote the stories that formed the foundation of the TV series, Bones, discussed these facts about Mount Everest in her novella, "Bones on Ice," one of four novellas included in her latest book, The Bone Collection. Naturally, she fashioned a murder mystery around these arcane facts about the 200 plus bodies left on Mount Everest.

Here is a Canadian who didn't make it:

French police arresting a drug dealer. One policeman was disguised in muslim man, wearing a "kami", sort of long dress for men, and another (unidentified) dressed as a muslim woman, wearing a niqab.
The guy in the video shouts "Let him free!".

An avalanche of outraged comments flooded the social networks. The police departement reafirmed that this was perfectly legal.

I'll bet you that by the time this fellow touches the pavement, he has enough adrenaline pumping through his system that he would be up and around, even with broken bones. That drug is almost instantaneous and only lasts for a very short time, before it leaves the victim completely wasted.

It does appear that the guy on the bike had the right of way. Drivers of cars often do not see bikes. Their subconscious minds just automatically dismiss them.
