Irrational Exuberance 'unexpectedly' hard to muster

Discussing Obama's mentality is a matter of personal opinion. Not of economy.

Beg to differ ... massive explosion in centralized power ... massive explosion in debt ... dozens of new czars and assistant czars and deputy czars producing tens of thousands of pages of regulations restricting everything from exactly where a company can choose to manufacture a product (Boeing) to the neighborhood farmers market.

Mentality matters ... bigtime! ... and when that mentality involves vilification of wealth creation and commerce, capital takes a powder ... and stagflation begins to sprout it's ugly roots.

Totally agree. The thing to realize, however, is that the facts may be irrefutable - but people will still deny that they are as clear and plain to see as they are.

Obama states every time he mentions the economy that there is a recovery going on and he has brought over three million new jobs to an economy which was in free-fall when he took over. Everything mentioned is incorrect, invalid, or just twisted - yet the bully pulpit works. People hear the nonsense, the MSM reprises it non-stop, with no fact-checking, and the people buy rthe bill of goods.

The mentality of the Obama administration reflects the mentality of the easily convinced mob. Soundbites are more important that undistorted facts, because the charisma of the speaker is added to his message. The facts merely stand on their own, until someone takes ownership of them, and endorses them.

The Corporatist element of the GOP are wishy-washy, and prompt to agree in compromise. The ones who stick out and gain adherents are those who take ownership of clear facts.

You nailed it William. Restated: the mentality of the Democrat elite is to play upon the emotionalism of the unthinking mob. Perhaps they even believe what they say. But they do know what sound bites "work" for their cause.
Jefferson: I place economy among the first and important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.
