Middle East Meltdown - 1

That the Soviets would have attacked at some point is believed by I think most; the issue is WHEN, most think 1942. His unique point (not in the clip I posted) was that the Red Army actually were under orders to attack within a few days after the German attack occurred and were already mostly deployed for rapid advancement (for their own blitzkrieg), being outside of defensive positions they were easily destroyed. The book(s) have massive amount of evidence but no decisive proof.

Lemme know if you want the book... you may like his arguments about the similarity of the two dictatorships, incidentally also including identical military doctrines.

Wsj report on the Homs big bang -- while the missile clip was a fake, explosion did happen.

I saw a similar article about a Dutch convert a few days ago. Where is Fred? S6

Turkey minimizes EU’s decision and recognizes Hezbollah

this is what a few battlefield victories do...
Sanders 2020

This means that Turkey has finally decided that the chance of them joining the EU are beyond hope. And it is letting the EU know what it thinks of it all.

Oh, I opened my mouth before reading the article, which is alluding the same thing.

Quote:Chairman Özcan believes that the Syrian war has taken a sectarian turn and the labeling of Hezbollah’s armed wing as a terrorist group by Ankara will make the government look like an anti-Shia institution.

Seems like a very flimsy excuse of Plausible Deniability if you ask me. Its not going to fool anybody, including any Euro-Weeny. Erdogan has decided that his future lies in the world of Islam, and not with a group of failed Euro-states. At least, that's my immediate thinking.

Yeah, but I thought the bigger thing is that Turkey wanted to be the Uber-Sunni power.

If the Turks are building relations with Syria Kurds plus now this, do you think the rebs are happy? -- Actually, they may think they are screwed, and for a change be right... S6

I don't know what the Turks think they are doing with this. Hezbollah is definitely not the kind of person I would want to go out on a date with.

This, plus they are really disliked by Sunnis in the area, and it is these Sunnis that Turkey needs for their neo-Ottoman alternative.

The alliance system is being reshuffled, good guys are becoming bad, bad guys are becoming good, and I'm lost. I don't feel too bad about this, because the US gummint seems even more lost... after all the nagging and bitching suddenly Kerry Says Egypt’s Military Was ‘Restoring Democracy’ in Ousting Morsi...

I need to check if it was Eurasia or Eastasia who was the enemy according to Orwell... S6

PS. And incidentally these things is the reason for not having multiple Mideast threads, the linkage are all-over.... if this one is too big, lock it, but have a sequel unified thread.

Alright, will do.
