MY G-D, That's frightening! Maybe I really should stay away from all this terrible news. I don't think I can stand the idea of my grandson having to carry an axe and chopping off debt, all on his own. S7

Does anyone here read the comic? Issue 100 was just released and it was...well...heartbreaking. I odnt want to give out any unnecessary spoilers, but if you're a fan of this show then you need to know right now that non of the characters are off limits. When you get attached to a character, you have to prepare yourself for the probability that you will see them die. It's probably a lot like real life, but until reading this series I've never felt attached to fictional characters in such a way.

Anyways. Season 3 starts with them at the prison. If you haven't seen the show I strongly recommend you start at the beginning. Episode 1 of season 1 is still by far my favorite. The final episode of season 2 is closely my 2 nd favorite. Watch it now and be caught up by October when season 3 starts. In the meantime, read 10 issues of the comic book. Even if you aren't into comics, do it any way. You can get them for free off torrents, or you can not be a complete dick and pay about $1 per issue through the release of the volumes. Volume 1 is $20 something and has the first dozen or so issues.

The whole family is looking forward to seeing how the Rick-Tatorship works out. It's become fairly plain that the 'developed' characters are more than fair game. I'm not sure I'd touch the graphic novels until AFTER the series plays out ... I really don't want to know, particularly if there is some tid bit in the early ones that would tip their hand. Should be fun this fall! AMC had a marathon of all the episodes a few weeks ago. That would have been the perfect time to catch up.

Here's what the crew needs while they are traveling around. A Zombie survival machine.

That car would become a coffin if you encountered a herd.

I guess you'd just have to plow right through the herd.

Incidentally, I finished watching all the segment of the second season. I wonder why they had to kill Dale off on the next to last segment? He was one of the best characters.

Well, that is because it is a Honda.

According to Kurt Schlichter, The Walking Dead has taken a turn to the Right, as the surviving members get real: 'Walking Dead' Drops Liberal Platitudes, Goes Conservative.

I'm going to have to download the first two episodes and watch. S5

Uh, actually it is a Hyundai.

The should "trick out" a much larger vehicle, preferably a 4 x 4 that would have a lot more "plowing power".

I wonder if the show being on AMC has karma for the conservative thing.

AMC was also the car company George Romney ran. After his tenure, AMC merged with Renault which then sold AMC to Chrysler to get the Jeep line. As such it still exists.

Meanwhile, The Walking Dead's Sarah Wayne Callies Sounds Off on Sunday's Shocking Episode.

I just started watching season 3, and have all three weeks ready to watch. This promises to be an interesting season.

I guess we need to talk about that “Walking Dead” episode last night

I'm still on episode 2, but I know about it. I wonder why the 'governor' would keep them around? I have a feeling that enclave is going to be real trouble.

One other thing. Just as soon as the group gains a few new people, an equal number of regulars get killed off. No net gain in members. If they don't start growing, there could be some real trouble in the future.

Here they now have this huge prison, and all those grounds, but nobody around to inhabit it, except a tiny number.

This is interesting: Walking Dead helps solidify AMC's success.

Quote:When a show about the walking dead on basic cable beats every network show in the ratings demographic that advertisers care most about, you have to wonder who the real zombies are.

Now the zombies are back for the second half of the show’s third season, and they continue to gnaw on everything in their path, including the broadcast networks’ historical claim to being the only place to find a mass audience. Three weeks ago, the zombies owned Sunday night, attracting 7.7 million viewers in the 18 to 49 range, more than any broadcast show in the land.

It gets better (or worse, if you are a network). AMC has a spinoff chat show about zombies called “The Talking Dead,” and even that is making waves. That same Sunday three weeks ago, “The Talking Dead” drew almost 2.8 million viewers ages 18 to 49, trumping NBC not just for the night, but for all of February.

I can't stand zombie stories. I won't read or watch them. Such stories require of me a suspension of disbelief too great for me to tolerate. Terminators I can buy, but not zombies.

Well, there is one kind of zombie I believe in--the zombie processes that UNIX is notorious for spawning and setting loose. But then UNIX also has daemons. By the way, UNIX zombies cannot be deleted like most files, they have to be killed with the kill command.

I'm not a big fan of them either, because they are simply illogical. However, The Walking Dead uses zombies as a backstop for the real story: survival in an "End of the World" scenario, and how some humans deal with it. The writing, acting, and stories are very professionally done. I'll watch each segment, but only once, because it is marginally interesting.

I did enjoy that zombie move, Zombieland, with Woody Harrelson, because it was so sickeningly funny. And the constant use of a set of zombie rules added to the depth. Also using a little old lady to drop a grand piano on a pursuing zombie was a hoot. LOL!

But I didn't enjoy it because of the zombies.
