Assuming they can bring enough gold to the market to make gold price fall by 90% (it all depends on quantity), that would be bad for gold funds, but good for the rest of the economy, especialy for the electronic industry where gold would then be massively used.
Today gold is used in electronics, also known as ENIG, is as small as technology allow: It's used as an anticorrosive substrate and conductor between copper and/or tin solder paste. The layer is very very thin.
If gold is cheap enough, this technique can be used everywhere with minimal cost, not only when a better connction is required. The layer would also be thicker making it even better.
Now imagine gold is as cheap as copper... That would be a major high-tech changer.

About tradition, it's even more interresting: We will be back to pre-colombian times, when gold was available in such quantities that it wasn't even considered a precious metal by the Incas.
