Massive Crop Failures on the Horizon! - John L - 11-24-2018

We are in the opening stages of a Huge Grand Solar Minimum, equal to, or even more than, the Maunder Minimum of the 17th century.  All you have to do is just step outside and compare the climate to what it used to be a few years ago.  Its getting colder, and its just beginning.

Now, I can live with the cold, because I lived in Alaska for fix years, so I'm used to it.  I was stationed in Korea for 13 months and G-d was that Siberian blast from the north unbelievable.  But I lived with it and did my duty there.  However, there is one thing that I didn't have to endure, and that was the effects of a major world wide cooling.

Humans are highly adaptive,.......but crops that sustain us, are not.  Until science develops crops that are genetically engineers to withstand cold climate, this planet is going to have a future crisis in our ability to feed the billions of mouths that are crying for food.  It will lead to strife, and wars, all because there is not enough crop yield to sustain the million of people living in and near the Arctic regions.   There will be huge migrations to warmer climates, and those in carmer climates will fight the invasions.

Believe it or not, this is the very same thing that happened to the US's immigration policy in the 19th century.  And it dealt with a root crop: potatoes.  During the last major grand solar minimum, above ground crops were among the first casualties of shorter growing seasons, and increased cold climates.  Root crops, such as potatoes, were the mainstay of places such as Ireland, and with the coming cold, even root crops suffered from this global cooling.  Irish potato farming collapsed and the starvation of the Irish caused the Great Second Irish Migration to the US.  That's where all the Irish Catholics came from.  The first Irish migration came from Northern Ireland, along with Scotland, in the 18th century, and they were almost all protestants.  There was a difference.  This is where the "Irish keep off the grass" and "Irish not welcome" originated.

Well, its starting all over again.  Here's what I mean.

When root crops fail, the collapse is only a matter of time. I kid thee not.

Please post all world crop failures and problems right here. This is one thing that we cannot overlook, because the potential for strife and unrest is monumental. Starving people are prone to violence and extreme measures, and who can blame them.

But even more problematic is the upcoming glaciation that is just around the corner. What we are about to go through is only the beginning. And this is why I believe this planet is going to have to develop orbiting agricultural habitats and multiple "beanstalks"(Space Elevators" that will allow us to get these products to market. If we don't prepare for this, the Schist is about to hit the fan. We cannot support 8-10 billion hungry mouths and maintain our civilization.
