Amazing satellite photos in China - jt - 11-14-2011

Here are a couple of links that give some puzzling satellite photos, discovered by Google Earth nerds. In some ways they remind one of the figures discovered by areal photography in South America, but seem to be of modern origin.

Are these real or bogus?

I've been trying to figure this out for the last day now. I've no idea what they are doing here.

I'm sure the answer will be forthcoming sometime in the future.

The stripes (prospected) and stripped off areas (mined) are potash mining, as are the blue ponds of the Lop Nur fertiliser plant.

The circular site with the planes could be a ballistic experiment.

As for the one with the aircraft, I wonder if they have done that already? I can't see any effects of an experiment.
