Quote:Global warming “deniers”: myth-conceptions abound

They’ve been compared to “flat earthers” and even “Holocaust deniers”. And, as the recent “Climategate” email scandal reveals, they have been blacklisted in certain professional circles. Scientists who disagree with the current consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) are dismissed by some colleagues and politicians as ignorant and irrelevant. Though there are certainly cranks out there who lend credence to this stereotype, not everyone who rejects the idea that global warming is a planetary crisis brought about by burning fossil fuels deserves to be vilified.

There are numerous myths surrounding those who are wrongly labeled “deniers”. Most of them can be distilled into six basic accusations:

Two things:

WAIT, I thought the role has reversed, and the New Deniers were the Algore crowd. Tell me I am wrong here?!

But secondly, there is one item left out of the article, which surely should be included. And that is which side has the lion's share of the funding. The AGW Skeptics are poorly funded, and acquire their money from tiny sources, compared to the AGW crowd, who have billions of dollars/pounds/Euros/whichever, at their disposal. They receive this advantage, because it favours the Statist approach to Bigger Government. And the Skeptic's position favours individuals.

Granted, number four, partially mentions this, but it does not state the facts completely. Skeptics are grossly underfunded, and have been winning lately because they are accurate in their assessment. And the truth will eventually win out, regardless the tons of Big Government monies shoveled their direction.

From my perspective, they've been the "deniers" from the beginning.

They deny that the science isn't settled,

they deny that there is a "consensus" (not that a consensus would be meaninful),

they deny that the climate is/was cooling when it was,

and more.

The only thing the majority of "skeptics" deny is that which is stated in the Petiton Project:

Quote:There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmsopheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.
