Well look here. It's now official. 81,000 years ago, at the beginning of the last ice age, the sea lever was up to one metre higher then than it is today. Now, that is something to digest.

But they are not finished, and here is the clincher, which will officially destroy the supposed relationship of CO2 levels and global warming. The study shows that while the sea levels were much higher, the level of CO2 were lower. That's right: LOWER. Who would'a thunk it?

Sea-Level Highstand 81,000 Years Ago in Mallorca

Global sea level and Earth’s climate are closely linked. Using speleothem encrustations from coastal caves on the island of Mallorca, we determined that western Mediterranean relative sea level was ~1 meter above modern sea level ~81,000 years ago during marine isotope stage (MIS) 5a. Although our findings seemingly conflict with the eustatic sea-level curve of far-field sites, they corroborate an alternative view that MIS 5a was at least as ice-free as the present, and they challenge the prevailing view of MIS 5 sea-level history and certain facets of ice-age theory.

Sea-level rises and falls as Earth’s giant ice sheets shrink and grow. It has been thought that sea level around 81,000 years ago—well into the last glacial period—was 15 to 20 meters below that of today and, thus, that the ice sheets were more extensive. Dorale et al. (p. 860; see the Perspective by Edwards) now challenge this view. A speleothem that has been intermittently submerged in a cave on the island of Mallorca was dated to show that, historically, sea level was more than a meter above its present height. This data implies that temperatures were as high as or higher than now, even though the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere was much lower.

Now, I am not sure how many wheels were on the AGW wagon, but with as many having come off, there certainly cannot be many more left,......I would think. Wink1
You know what? if the communist bloc had succeeded more than the capitalist bloc, this AGW thing would never have been dreamed up.

Since capitalism kicked can and since co2 emissions are a measurable showing who wins and loses in the industrial age,the left came up with this nonsense.

However,I also think a big mover today FOR pushing it are extreme wealthy capitalists like Soros and Gore. There is always a nexus of money pushing any idea, even Marxism and re-distribution thinking because they figure a way to benefit and fund the idea.

:?: Huh :?:
John, that is a very interesting fact. It puts perspective on what changes humans might expect in interglacials.

I wonder what happened to the polar bears then?
John,

Just opining on why I think AGW even popped up. It's nonsense, propaganda driven by leftists and super wealthy people that use them as useful idiots.
