I doubt it,but assume a huge asset is there. Does the UK still have the independent firepower to protect it against the Argentines? I don't know, but they'll need it because it's a lot closer to Argentina than the UK.

It was during the last Falkland crisis also. But Her Majesty's boys succeeded in beating the Argentinians...

Really? Is this the reason Argentine claimed them and not the Outer Hebrides? I mean the latter could be protected against Argentine a lot better.

Did you know Argentine's military regime of the time invaded the Falklands for the purpose to divert the public from it's poor economic performance? Sounds familiar?
Track,

The UK's military is significantly weaker(specifically their Navy) than in the 1980s(so is ours). I'm not sure the UK can protect those islands assuming Argentina has a better Navy today than then.

Well...

What if they ask help from the US...
I would oppose us helping them as the Falkland Islands are not Britain and the truth is America needs to be friendly with our neighbors, the days of Europe using us like red headed step children is waning, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did help them. I seriously question whether or not alone the UK can defend the Falkland Islands from Argentina.

Their Navy is down to nearly zip,of course Argentina's may not have improved over this time frame.
Wait, is there another threat from Argentina? I have missed out on this.
There may be oil in the Falkland Islands, John.
It's Palladin, John.
