Surprised about this, bet he gets out soon:

HERE
Quote:A Russian arms dealer thought to have inspired the lead character in the blockbuster film Lord of War was arrested in Bangkok today.

What's russian in person, who was born in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), left Soviet Union in 1991, lived in Belgium and Saudi Arabia? His family still lives in Saudi Arabia.
And the main:
Quote:Oliver Sprague, of Amnesty International UK, said: “While we welcome the fact that Viktor Bout has finally been arrested, why has it taken so long for this to happen?"
Really why? :?
Because he plays ball with everyone is my guess and plays ball against everyone, too. Now,as to is he a Russki, only you guys know the answer to that. Is he? He was either born there or he wasn't and he either dropped his citizenship or he did not.

I don't care where he was born, there is no evil attached to the land of his birth because of his actions. However, this man owns an airforce and I wonder how he got it?

Did we give it to him,did India,Burma,Ecuador or did Russia? Because he has been tasked to airlift tremendous sums of logistics before and no other human on earth owns an Air Force full of airlift capability, not even airlines except for FedEX. And FedEX has contracted his services as well.

Here's a little blurb on him, apprently this was a DEA sting by us that got him:

Russia give...? Palladin, you don't know Russia.
He could take it from Russia, but it doesn't mean - Russia give him it...
BH,

I know,my question was did Russia SELL it to him. Where did he get the cash to purchase such a fleet? Is he one of the old CCCP officials that became super wealthy after the collapse of the USSR?
Palladin Wrote:BH, I know,my question was did Russia SELL it to him. Where did he get the cash to purchase such a fleet?
He wasn't owner of first planes he used.
About continuation you'd better watch movie. :? It's risky, but very profitable business. Who supplied Northern Alliance with arms?
BH,

Oh,I know Viktor has sold to everyone. We have contracted with him openly via our DoD. If he would stick to arming someone other than Marxists and Islamists,he'd not be in jail right now.

His greed kept him from using any judgement,so I'm glad he's in jail,I hope he gets extradited over here and dies in our jail system. You know, criminals aren't all bad,but when they exercise judgement like Viktor,it's good they are jailed,IMO.

I bet he armed the Northern alliance and the Taliban at the same time.

It looks so...
It looks you had watched movie...
Nah,I know fairly much about him from the counterterrorism.org blogsite.

I do want to watch the flick though. I'm not as uneducated as you imagine,I read a lot about a lot of people. I think you guys assume Americans are naive, spoonfed by our government.

We're not so much,I realize we worked with Viktor as well as against him.
Palladin Wrote:Nah,I know fairly much about him from the counterterrorism.org blogsite.
Even if so movie is worthy to be seen to understand psychology of this people.
BH,

I reckon it's just to make a buck and what the results are is a meaningless thing to people like Viktor. If it killed their mother,no big deal.

Here's a longer article about him and this trap to arrest him,I do think he made the error most arrogant people make, you start believing since you have gotten away with stuff, you always will:

HERE
Was Victor Bout also the guy the movie Ironman was made about?
Americans used Bout in Iraq.
(the article of 2004).

Quote:Today the United States and Britain are using his extensive mercenary services in Iraq. The condemnation of his role in the diamond wars and other conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa over the past ten years is being silently erased.
We've used him in a lot of places. The guy moved military hardware with the best of them, his mistake was moving it to one too many Islamist and communist group for his own good.

Had he not,he'd be a free, Russian living the easy life right now instead of what he became,a criminal having to wonder if he was being watched every step of his young life. It was his choice and I for one am real pleased he is arrested. I hope he gets extradited here and dies in supermax in Colorado.

Within the hard drive of the Colombian terrorists PC we might find a lot more info, some invloving debates about our own Barack Obama and his utility to Marxist and Islamist movements globally:

The counterterrosim blog folks think Russia has lots to hide concerning Viktor:

Well, he is a businessman primarily and selling of weapons is not forbidden, is it?
So who considers him a bandit? The UN? Huh. This bunch of corrupt, inefficient internationalists?

I'll agree on corrupt ... but for a bunch of 'internationalists' they sure don't get "free trade" eh? ... or is that the inefficient part you were getting at? Shock

Green,

We wanted him arrested,he worked for our enemy as well as us.

Gotta do one or the other, can't do both.
Palladin,

It's weird. Does anyone in the world need to ask Amierikan permission for selling a pop-gun to a bedouin?
He sold it to your enemies because your enemies pay better. Why don't you try to fix your problems with your enemies face-to-face without attacks on independant business? Moreover he is just a middleman and he personally didn't kill anyone.

You hit the spot!

Green,

If you don't mind being chased around the globe like a cockroach, the answer is NO,but if you do,the answer is YES.

Based on Islamic terrorism and what we've seen in the last decade,I think your country has produced more than popguns for Islam.
Here's a wiki article on Viktor, unlike the movie,he was not raised a little boy in NYC,he was a Soviet commisioned officer. I suspect 90% of the movie was false, except the part that showed he would seel arms to anyone on any side:
