His last thought is the most significant,IMO. If we won't support the youth who suffer our war decisions,we ought not make the request in the first place. I won't ever support another war personally, except it's right here.

Palladin, are you suffering from this syndrome:
Quote:What can be done about our impatience, historical amnesia, and utopian demands for perfection?
which was mentioned in the article you referenced. A nice one from V. D. Hanson, thanks.

And how do we support all the other stupidos seduced to support America's wars?
jt,

No,I sat on my couch 4 years ago and looked at my kid right before he was shipped over there. Our family was together and I had said something in 2003 indicating to my daughter that I thought invading Iraq was foolish,so she asked me in front of my son,"Do you disagree with this war"?

I lied and said NO. I couldn't hug him and let him think his own father thought what enterprise he was about to embark on was pure stupidity in action, but it was and I had a feeling back then it was.

Then,to sit and watch at least 50% of this nation prefer we leave and lose to al qaeda,no,I won't ever motivate another kid ever to desire to fight in a war of choice. It's morally repugnant to me after living through 2 such "wars",Vietnam and Iraq.

After my son got out,I told him I would never support another war of choice and I won't. Only if we're attacked. I support every effort in Afghanistan and every effort across the globe including now Iraq and our own nation,to hunt down and kill Islamic activists, but I can't ever support warring on any state that is not a threat to our national independence.
