McCaffrey is objective and no fan of Bush's,so his views are very significant, imo. Lacking armament? I just wonder if that isn't by design?

Nice article. But you know what? This is what really got my attention, even though I Knew it anyway. Coming from the General only makes it more important.

Quote:Gen. McCaffrey also warns that "there is a rapidly growing animosity" among U.S. troops toward the press.

Somehow, I suspect that he is being tactful in his warning. I will be willing to bet that the military quite simply HATES the press. And for good reason.
As I do. They are for the enemy in almost all instances.
curious.

has this ever happened before?

what will life be like when the troops mare home and they see for themselves how the coverage has been?

what happens, if anything, our troops lose faith in the Free Press?

They will become staunch adherants of the New Media. They already watch Fox News almost exclusively over there.

CNN? What's that?
What do you guys think of the attempt by Finegold (sp?) and McCain? to hogtie the alternative media and blogospheres if they get control of the Congress? I think there will be a huge turnout against the bill.
one would hope, but with Dubya signing that campagin finance bill, i have lost faith in the executive branch...

Nooooooo. You don't want this bill to survive unless you want alternative media to be killed, as well as the blogospheres. ??
im not familiar with the bill. how can they control the Blogosphere?

if ANYONE supports this, then we should be throwing molotov cocktails and sending them Anthrax thank you notes...
They lost faith in the MSM,not alternatives. I hate the McCain-Feingold tyranny bill myself.
Yeah, poor John McCain. Dr Thomas Sowell had a piece about him in his article the other day. Let me find it. ..................

Ok, here it is:

"One of the few encouraging signs in the current political scene is that Senator John McCain finished behind several other candidates in a Republican straw poll for Presidential candidates. Apparently his self-centered opportunism has not gone unnoticed, despite the good press he has gotten by pandering to the media."-Dr. Thomas Sowell
can we just go ahead and trade him for Zell Miller?

perhaps we should run politics the way we do Baseball teams...

Unfortunately Zell Miller is already retired. The McCainiac is still in business. Perhaps when he is up for reelection, someone in Arizona will contest his nomination. Perhaps the ghost of Goldwater will reemerge and castigate him before the Press.

Anyway, Goldwater is most certainly turning over in his grave, just to think of what his successor has become.
