Iraq hangs Insurgents - It's about Damn Time!

S2

Be interesting to see the results of this.
Another 1 million and they'll have a handle on this problem,to include lots of Shiite extremists.
........The US-led coalition abolished the death penalty in Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, but it was re-instated during the handover to Iraqi control in June 2004.

The Iraqi government wanted to give itself the option of executing the former president, who is currently on trial with seven others for the killing of 148 Shias from the village of Dujail in 1982........

May it be so.
Let's see if Saddam has a change of emotion in his trial now. Let's see if he still thinks he is immortal and won't pay the ultimate price.
I honestly believe that we should also send them about 50% of our practicing lawyers, as well as throw in some politicians.

That should keep things jumping at the gallows gallery. I'd love to see Alan Dershowitz trying to exploit his use of the language to talk himself out of a stretched neck.

In other words, Shia are hanging Sunnis.

There was an interesting article in NY Sun today about the scope of the "unofficial retaliation" for the mosque.

NY Sun, not NY Times.
Very different.

On the other hand.
Sunni are blowing up Shia Mosque, conducting beheadings, and acting ill mannered.
What fun. Two peoples that don't like each other much. Hmmm. Where in History have I heard that before?
Exactly.

Now, who are the good guys?

Now, who are the good guys?
On the other hand who were the good guys in our Civil War? Who were the good guys in Spains Civil War? How about Englands? France? Nicarauga? Too many to go on. Just pick out the ones you like. Set up the good guys, then compare.
The Good guys are the people that make up the Majority of any nation that want peace and try to get along. That is true of the USA and Iraq. 98 + % of the population in Iraq, be they Shiite, or Sunni, or Chrisitian are doing just that. Believe the news media? Try starting all their reports with these words. Once upon a time.

NY Sun, NY Times. Only one I know of that gives it a fair shot that has NY in front of it is the Post.
Story is questionable on many levels.
The New York Times and the New York Sun are two completely different newspapers, trust me.

I never trust un attributed stories and seldom trust anything 'Un Official'
I do trust my friend that are there and who tell me what is happening,
There was retaliation. However sorting out the wheat from the chaff requires getting off you lard a$$ and getting out into the population. NY Sun NY Time LA Herald or the Atlanta Constipation and Urinal it does not matter. With the exception of Fox most of these 'Reporters' are using stringers, and seldom leave the Hotel. This I know from my own experiences over there. My Jaundiced eye and skeptical approach to the News Media is drawn from Viet Nam experiences with them and Deja Vu in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mu point is...so what? It was brewing before we got there. In fact that particular little Civil War has been on the plate just about five thousands years. Most of it is Mullah War Lords trying to exert authority and build up strength. Some of it is Dumb a$$ Al Queada thugs and criminal attempting to take advantage of a situation.
As has been said. This too shall pass. On my radar screen this does not even get a blip.
mv, good comment. What a poorly written story to not make the distinction whether it is documenting Saddam-era hit squads - or contemporaneous ones.
Oh, they are certainly talking about post-Saddam period. Shia squads. This is what is creating problems for Jaafari.
