Very little in the press (why?) but apparently shutdown of a nuclear reactor in Belgium last month has been linked to deliberate sabotage. Story.

An Amish?
PS. Search news for "Nuclear Belgium" but the reports everywhere are very brief, like this. I did see an article yesterday claiming four arrests but no longer have the link.

WSJ report from earlier does not talk about sabotage yet.
Possible Eastern Orthodox Monk?
Union perhaps? They are very communist... But I don't believe these types work at a nuclear plant. Very strange...
Greens are imho still the most likely culprits. Well, Fred, this story is all yours -- investigate!
No Greens don't do that, they hang banners on the gates but don't go inside.
At first side I can only imagine communist union (FGTB) if they managed to get somebody works there or somebody mentaly ill.
I don't have time to investigate such minor event now.

Ok, I give ... why are communists against nukes? ... or Belgium? (other than the EU rift over Ukraine)? The Russians seem completely on board with all things fission ... along with exporting it to places like Iran. Putin just tested a delivery system for the not-so-friendly variety.

... no overt mention of jihadi ... other than mv's oblique reference to Amish ... puzzling indeed!
Jack, the overwhelming majority of Leftists, including Marxists, are really just "useful idiots" or "fellow travelers", who never grew out of their Kindergarden of Eden mentality. They're all over the place, and tend to get in the way of the power grabbers in charge of the movement. That's why they need to be lined up against the way, and put out of everyone's misery first thing. They would whine and suddenly "get it" that getting something for nothing is not possible. That would create a whole new set of 'opportunities' for the power grabbers.

They have to be eliminated. However, until that time, they are infinitely useful to the power grabbers. That's exactly how Uncle Vladimir Ilyich got things done. S5
Communists or Unionists are not entirely impossible, there are crazy groups in both.

Still, my guess would be first crazy Greens (enough of them go beyond banners), and 2ndly Muslims.
(yeah, mr_yak, this was my original thought, but are Belgians nuts enough not to keep them away from nuclear plants?)

Don't know about Belgians ... but in this country any power company would be sued into bankruptcy for violating Equal Opportunity labor laws. I wonder if NSA is devoting any resources to this? I doubt it, they seem much more occupied with recording emails and phone conversations. Meanwhile ... picture a bearded, angry, swarthy version of Homer Simpson sitting at the control panel ... S6
Mr Yak, why are communists against nukes? They are against nukes in the West. With nukes in USSR they were perfectly fine.
But that was 30 years ago, it's a bit of stretch to think that communist today are still trying to do something, especialy on a civilian facility. They did something against a military base one year ago, pure amateurship, got beaten by the guards and sent home to their mothers for cursing. LOL.
I even don't think they were in an organisation.

Muslims? Maybe. But we would know about it if there was even a remote connection with Jihad.

Greens: Again, I know Greens in Belgium, the "Ecolo" party, Utopians but not terrorists. (unless they act individualy or are communist inside the Ecolo party)
France gets 80% of it's electrical power from 'clean' nuclear power ... which is a euphemism for pumping waste into the North Atlantic being considered 'clean'. Screw with nuclear power in the EU under a (likely) Russian disruption to the gas supply and you get a "force multiplier". Desperation and insanity has been something we've attributed to Islamist. It would not surprise me if Putin resorted to the same tactics. The sanctions and cutoff of access to Western capital are going to be a burden. F*cking with nukes in Europe might be a way of forcing greater reliance on gas power. In the short term it's idiocy as it requires plant level changes ... with flat out can't happen within less than at least several yearsl. Then again it could be a factor of shock and aw(shit). So you have another potential culprit. Merkel appears to be hedging by ramping up coal power. Probably not a horrible strategy.
Russian gas will return faster to Western europe than Uranium.
Mark my words!

Like I said, nukelectricity is already pretty well established in France (what is it that the French have that the rest of the Western world lacks?). Germany is developing it's own coal. There are many in this country that would absolutely LOVE to begin shipping liquified gas to Europe. Again, can't happen over night ... lots of obstacles ... mostly on this side of the Atlantic (chemical companies in lock step with the greenies ... who woulda thunk it?) ... but in a few years? ... who knows? Fukushima put a large damper on building any new plants or reactors pretty much anywhere ... except Iran and China. We continue to decommission them in this country. Hard to make the argument when we're up to our necks in frack gas. I'd still finger the Russians for the Belgium stunt ... unless you've heard more otherwise.
