That young lady seems to have a good relationship with her pet. At least, he seems to enjoy doing that for her. No leash was required.

You know what? I'm still trying to understand this stupid fixation many have with the 'cyclops' idea. What is it about one eye that has some people thinking it to be something nature would adopt?

Has anyone ever seen a single eye in any critter in nature? Just one? I haven't, that's for sure.

The point is that nature, i.e. natural selection, would automatically throw out any form that used it as a means of sight/locomotion. Not only is one alone simply too easy to destroy, but there is no depth perception available. Nature would more easily adopt three, or more eyes than just one.

Every time I see examples of one eyed critters, I automatically think of how ignorant the creator of this really are. Boy.

The cartoon should read:

Never the governement has been as fat as today. A good diet is required!

Whoever pulled this prank did a poor job. I wonder why they didn't bother to tape the borders around the corners and carefully blend in the open portion of the "C" into the rest of the letter. Otherwise, anyone with half a brain can tell it was an addition.

This is a very interesting map, and quite informative. However, it still hides certain facts. For instance, in many countries which have much fewer prison population, perhaps the country's society has ways of dealing with the criminal before he/she has a chance to go to prison? Or perhaps those countries solve their problems through different means?

But what really peaked my interest more than others, was the unusually high incarceration rate of Greenland, compared to its neighbor Canada. But I already knew the hidden answer there, once I realized that Greenland is almost exclusively made up of Inuit people.

The inuit have a history of practicing female infanticide, to the extent that roughly one in five female babies are killed on, or before, birth. That alone is not the real reason for high rates of prison numbers. Rather it is the effect of this infanticide. With such a high rate of male children reaching maturity, it is natural that there will be a high rate of competition between males so as to pass their genes on to the next generation. Hence, the rate of homicide among the Inuit is very high, leading to many criminals. Hence the size of their prison population is a land that is so barren and open.

And Greenland is not the only country where Inuit live. Canada is the country with the most Inuit. But the percentage of Inuit in Canada is quite small, leaving a much higher number of potential mates in the pool. On the other hand, the population of Inuit in Greenland is very high, at around 80%. That makes for a lot of potential criminals.

Now,................think of China, and its "One Child per Family" policy. And what do you think this does to the homicide rates there.
