Oddly enough, the WSJ just had an article today on the number of mistakes in scientific journals. It has been rising dramatically, even in the "best" "peer reviewed" journals. (Att'n. b5d). The most errors are in the softer sciences.

One facet of medical research is that rarely are statistical experiments repeated. Thus, once a "finding" is established, it is slavishly followed by practitioners and bruited about by talking head "experts", not always to the benefit of society.

Thus, the research finding, if true, is welcome. But, is it true?
