Washington DC

Who knows the DC area well? It's been a while since I've been there and only stayed around the Mall. Couple of questions. I'm going to use the Lincoln Memorial as my starting point.
How far is Arlington National Cemetary from there? Is it in walking distance or are buses/shuttles regularly available for tourists? What about the Pentagon (do they provide tours inside)?
Also, how far away is Quantico, VA? I want to go see that new Marine museum.
Are the Smithsonian museums open on weekends? (I could easily check that online, but if anyone knows off the top of their head)

I'd walk to the Arlington - probably < 1 mile. From there, you can take the metro to the Pentagon, but I don't know if they'll let you in or not - it's pretty heavily fortified. Don't think there's any public transport all the way to Quantico though...

Smithsonian is definitely open on weekends.
