Washington has allocated more than $60 billion since 2002 to train and equip Afghan troops
That's a huge amount of money. But they don't have anything better to spend on. Do they?

Fred, none of this stupidity is ever going to change until the US economy finally collapses in on itself. Then, and only then, will the citizenry be angry enough to convince politicians and bureaucrats, that the idea of drastically cutting in order for survival popular once again.

Won't happen. The whole thing is to wreck everything and then use the wreckage to gain total control. They don't need to be popular or even consider opinions after that.

Bill, in your quest to have the last word, and always be right, you have managed to agree while disagreeing.   There was never any disagreement about how the bureaucrats want to gain/maintain more control.  That is a given Bill.  I am  talking BEYOND that point.  Think long term.  Think Strategic.

Yes, a 20 Trillion dollars debt doesn't help make them think how to use money more efficiently. Instead, it looks like wasting 60B is not a great deal in comparison with other spendings, deficit and debt.

The US need a banking collapse, but a real one this time.

Ok, with 60B, you could have paid each afgan $3000 to convert to christianism, and we would be done with islamism in this country.

Sigh! "...only then, will the citizenry be angry enough to convince politicians and bureaucrats, that the idea of drastically cutting in order for survival popular once again."

This only asserts the fact that there will be a Republic left in which to try to convince anyone of anything. My point is that the Cloward-Piven strategy, of which both Hillary and Obama are disciples, is used to crash the economy and social order on purpose, in order to allow the assumptive oligarchs to blame the good guys for their own misdeeds, and encourage the disinformed citizens that only an over-arching empowered government can save them.
