What Poland's going to do with this? Give it back to the German?

1.5-tonne World War Two mortar bomb was discovered by underground construction workers

It would be funny if the Poles built a giant catapult to throw this piece of trash over the border to Germany! LOL

Amazing they still find tons and tons of unexploded bombs deep under the earth surface... WW2 and WW1 alike.

A goodly percentage of those mortar rounds were inert, and used to destroy concrete installation through kinetic energy. This one could also have been an inert round.

They still used that technique in the 20th century?

Sure. U.S. Wields Defter Weapon Against Iraq: Concrete Bomb

Even the French use them: French Dropping concrete bombs in Libya.

That way you can take out a select target, and not destroy the surrounding buildings.

But destroying the surroundings was the whole point, No, in a war against terrorists, the best is just good enough.

Not necessarily. Even peace loving Nazis were hesitant to blow up power plants, dams, relay stations, or even palaces(generals love sleeping in palaces), etc. Why destroy something you are going to have to rebuild when it is all over?

Arabs do that all the time.

I say that in spite of my great admiration for Islam.
If it's us or them, I choose us.

It's ery interrresting. But as said by the article it requires ery precise technology which didn't exit in ww2.
You can destroy a tank or a small building if you hit the target in the middle. If you miss it by a few feet there is no damage to the target.
As a conclusion it's unlikely that a projectile fired by a mortar in ww2 was an inert bomb.
